He handed over editorship of the Racing Post a year or so back. He did his last Postcast a few weeks ago. He did his last Sweet Spot (RP golf podcast) last week.
Has Bruce now left the Racing Post completely? Retired or got a better job?
Never understood why so much dislike to him his articles on a Thursday was always something I looked forward to ,didn’t always agree but always found the interesting.

Bruce's best solution to horse racing has been to suggest the idea of 'bet-builder' bets for horse racing!!
Call me cynical, but would that not be the highest margin, lowest EV bet ever created after the tote

One thing he got dead right was his complete opposition to VAR well before it was introduced. Some of his articles on that topic would be extremely prescient if re-published

Used to read his column at the back end of the Racing Post on various sports. On golf one opinion was he did not believe it to be fair that you should have to play a shot if your ball had landed in a divot. He suggested the rule should be changed to allow free relief.

Millington/Rust/McArthur were the three stooges that had brought horseracing and betting to their knees. Their long tenures had resulted in punters account closed and/or bets restricted. Oh, must not forget Affordability Check.

Has admitted that he did not get hooked on racing until Denman came along -would have been in his forties by then and had been editor of the RP for a good few years. Such an odd CV for someone who would come to have a degree of power in the sport. Was pro FOBT's at one time - putting up Al Down to visit ann LBO and play them, and produce a glowing report. Also once quipped that Betfair Forum members were characters who had escaped the loony bin and were not fit to be given crayons. Got his break when the Life folded and was chosen over McGovern for the RP Sports Betting editor, the got full editorship when Byrne retired - this before he got interested in racing.

In hindsight really regret The Sportsman folding, but the layout was so messy on the eye and so hard to accustom to. Sloppy preparatory work before it went on the market but I'm sure they 'd have got it right in the end. Alas their finances could not stretch any further.

Just one of dozens of articles online regarding The Sportsman newspaper 2006..https://www.journalism.co.uk/news/the-sportsman--how-not-to-run-an-online-community/s2/a53326/
I now realise the Sportsman had little chance of being successful with one Charles Methven at the helm...i've now witnessed him in other guises to know what he's like.

Has Mr Millington hopped onto the bandwagon of educating and reforming former gambling and fobt addicts using money from fines on bookies? I sincerely hope not. Does anyone know of any former bookie gravy-trainers "soliciting" as a behavioural and gambling addict expert? Tia.
