Dare not even look at the entain share price if i do it will be from behind the couch just noticed Hills are down 16% today.
The question is there any way back YES or NO.
First week back only part time what i have noticed more than anything is the amount of guys who have been asked for proof of funds and i will ask for long odds we wont see them again.
Very anxious times for the shops.
Hope you are all well and thank you for the support over the last 3 months.
Ronnie.

They only ask winners for proof of funds. If you are a loser you will be fine. You will be asked if you want a free cup of coffee or a 100 free spins (t&C apply)

They bring a lot of it on themselves. The green idiots think its OK to offer 4-6 Northern 10-11 southern hemisphere to win rugby World Cup. Utterly disgusting and should be reported.

Not even law yet to show proof of funds, may never be.

So why are they doing it?

Jumped on the bandwagon (following pressure to curtail the gangsters/thieves who were losing millions and racking up huge fines for the bookies) by unilaterally abusing the privilege asking anyone and everyone for documents.

All this coinciding with the cost of living crisis that prevails and can only get worse this winter with energy costs still double that of recent times and no subsidy this time around.

There is a large Maceedee's close by to me and was the hive of activity with cars, scooters, bikes buzzing back and forth delivering crap to the masses.

Gone! asked a guy where they'd gawn to. told me "business had dropped off a cliff edge.

Could end up with a state run system of controlled gambling, controlled betting outlets, bingo halls, casinos (all under one roof)

Entain and the like are/ would be content with exploiting other markets further afield to make a coin for their shareholders.

There's a big picture, but it's behind smoke and mirrors.

Ronnie, and others...
Was sitting in local baldy shop last Saturday morning, between 9 and 10 roughly, was on my own most of the time, occasional punter in and out placing bets
Said to my mate, who's been the shop manager for about 25 years, that this shop couldn't last much longer like this...
He said that it's the machine players that keeps the shop going, even taking account of the reduced stakes allowed now. As long as they're not excluded, or stop coming in, because of affordability checks, he says his shop should be OK

Was nothing like the social hub, with all the banter, hard luck stories, aftertimers,  of yesteryear though

I saw something the other day that had me thinking about all the people on here b ent out of shape wrongly blaming everything on the bookies

It was a piece on Russel Brand.
About how that dinnage woman wrote to Rumble attempting to strong arm them into effectively finding him guilty by cutting his revenue from advertising
She sent the letter from the Culture Media and Sports committee and she’s the wife of a guy who was the deputy commander of the 77th brigade, which is the uk military psychological warfare division, tasked with using social media to control the narrative.
Well well well.

It’s all falling into place now isn’t it?
All those on here who either have no betting or very little, who openly confess to care little about the ramifications as long as ‘evil bookies’ pay the price, never seem to miss a trick to try shout down anyone who points out you can’t hurt the bookie only, punter options.

For people who don’t know the Secretary of State at the dept. Of DCMS is the Minister for gambling.

Never mind the 77th Brigade and Russell bloody Brand...........To get back to the subject matter which of course the bookmakers have brought on themselves and it's been going on ever since I can remember. They have implemented the checks even before they needed to let alone everything else they've been up to.

There have been laws about anti-money laundering for decades. As far as affordability checks are concerned, they aren't laws, just licensed firms regulations.

This is about the narrative that has been used to get the public conditioned on the subject.

The sob stories and lack of responsibility, the use of fobts as a headline only to then drop the whole segmentation so they can rope in all gambling activity.

If people can’t see this as control via use of the media and crucially social media to get people towing the line then they are simple blind, and stupid.

The bookies have the option to go to the next jurisdiction-California, while the uk punter just gets shatter as options close.
Well legalised options anyway.

What non of these mincing lefties can explain is why those who implemented the whole attack on gambling through the stick of the regulator never came up with a safeguard.

All very busy talking about harms done to a fraction of the public, but where is the focus on the subject of arbitration?

It has all the hallmarks of simply shutting gambling down, rather than some virtuous action fighting for the oppressed.

Very rarely go to betting shops now what with hardly any room for form pages on the walls, screaming commentary from some fckn race from india, cartoon racing, endless dog racing, cant get a bit of peace to pick a bet out. do i miss the old days? you bet, actually standing with your fellow punters watching or listening to the race was good craich but now you are more than likley to be there on your own, seems most people feel the same.

It's not about shutting gambling down. That's too much of an earner. It is likely horse racing is the target.
By:

When: 29 Sep 23 10:26
It certainly looks like that….but we can test that theory by asking if anyone who bets on other sports other than horse racing are affected?

There is already evidence people who only bet on slots are reacting to being knocked back.

My concern is the comment from Sparrow
As though I’m getting drawn into a bigger argument that has nothing to do with this one.
I know nor care little about Russel Brand, or the other allegations he’s been saying anti establishment stuff and they are out to get him.

This is about the fact politicians tried to influence enterprise based on allegations only
As though a person is guilty just because somebody made them.
The head of the CMS committee making no attempt to hide the fact they are trying to shape the argument.
It’s exactly what has been happening in the gambling sector.

High street bookmakers have just become exactly the same as those nasty darkened shops which had wall to wall one armed bandits in the 1980s.

Back then as a student I lost £18 in one addicted half hour session, which was equivalent of about £200 now. I left the shop and felt sick to the bottom of my stomach and never did bandits/slots ever again.

This is what the gambling commission should be looking at, not horse racing which is a highly academic skills based application.

I have noticed that over-rounds have been steadily increasing over the last couple of months too. I cannot get an extra place matched bet on now at a value price. I think the game is well and truly finished myself. BOOKMAKER GREEED

I have to say that when betfair emerged twenty years ago I thought their business model would instantly kill off bookmakers. It certainly led Laddies to have a go with their disastrous exchange almost immediately. But bookies have morphed into online casinos instead with all the harm this has caused to so many families. Horse racing is now a mere loss leader to them.

If you are allowed to bet on there casino's, then you should not be restricted on all sports betting.
By:

When: 29 Sep 23 11:25
You’re not allowed to just bet unrestricted on the online casinos, that’s a myth.

Google “casinomeister forum affordability checks” and you will find countless examples of slot players being asked for documents, banks statements, source of funds, deposit limits applied and closed accounts. They don’t want the checks any more than sports and horse racing bettors do.

Yes ronnie 4-5 evens has stood the test of time. Then 8-11 evens crept in. You don't have to look very long to see 4-6 evens now. 110% in a 2 case scenario. Now the lowest of the low. 4-6 10-11. Disgraceful. And these "specials". Only 1 price offered. Its akin to saying 1-3 heads no offers tails.

Horseracing is not fobt thus AC accordingly - this is not rocket science. But, the bookies do not want that either. If the bookies are not careful the bookies will be dealt an own-goal ie AC maily for fobt, and a casino licence for fobt too. These could be on top of a blanket ban on gambling adverts on tv, mobile and laptop including the regular 'Gambleaware' prompts used to remind tv audience bookies are opened to facilitate their leisure at home even at that time of the night or early morning.

Does anyone know who the founders or head honchos of the gambling "correctional" entities paid for/funded by fines from Gambling Commission on bookies? I think some of the individuals could be "milking" this source of fund for themselves only.

Indeed 'seaside'. The present bookies are very selective and reluctance yo take bets. But, horseracing UK yet to cotton on to it. As such, the Levy is progressively depleted. It's clear the bookies strategic business for the future is not horseracing, but their cash-cow and risk-less fobt.

May I suggest the government wise-up and tax accordingly. Maybe 97p to the £1. This is easy money to bookies - no risk - extremely low overheads.
