Quite.

Julie Harrington has asked them to postpone the publication until she nails down a job elsewhere.

Yes when she leaves a mess in this industry she will move on and nail a job elsewhere .

Somebody recently told me she is rarely sober if that’s the case her employers must just accept it.

It makes it difficult to buy memberships for the NH courses. You need to be able to compare lists of reciprocals and fixture clashes to decide whether it's worth the investment.

The delay means I've spent £170 to join my local track, Taunton, but I've not bothered with Exeter or Wincanton. Not that the BHA would care about those non-Premierized courses anyway.

Screaming

There will be many in a similar position but as you say the bha will not care we are the only sport in the world trying to lose spectators.
Report The Pies September 27, 2023 10:57 AM BST
Delay is due to trying to agree additional funding for Premier fixtures with the Levy Board.

At Bangor there’s what’s called the outside it’s a tenner to get in and people can park the car and watch the racing,in the winter between around 40 to 100 turn up each meeting and lots more in the summer, however the racecourse has now decided it for annual members only to have there picnics there,so those loyal race goers can either pay to enter tatts or stay at home and find another pastime.
Report ribero1 September 27, 2023 11:00 AM BST
Yes,Harrington & co thought the Levy Board would just sign it off and provide the funds for their hair brained scheme,be lovely if they binned it but guessing a few adjustments will be the order of the day.

My daughter loves live music.  She has booked up all her concerts for next year months ago.  People plan ahead for their outings/stag & hen dos and work trips and simply book something else.  Like jimnast said, as a sports entertainment business, 'we are the only sport in the world trying to lose spectators'.  Exactly right.
Report jimnast September 27, 2023 11:06 AM BST
Doncaster st leger meeting completely false advertising regarding the family enclosure I would be surprised if more than 5% who attended will ever return to a racecourse.

But the people who make these decisions will just move on to another industry they do not care about the future of horse racing.

Morning Jimnast, wrote a letter to the post yesterday, extremely doubtful it will get published but do they normally acknowledge you?
Report jimnast September 27, 2023 11:25 AM BST
Good morning ribero

No they don’t acknowledge you either way ,I have only ever had one letter not printed which as earlier in the year when this premier crap was announced
Report ribero1 September 27, 2023 11:40 AM BST
That's obviously what's mine about!

I politely criticised the online bookmakers which the racing post doesn’t like.

It is annoying. I visit an old friend who lives near Oxford at least once a year and we usually go racing at a course which is reasonably easy to get to from where he lives. We did Warwick on Monday. We have been to Cheltenham but some time ago and I fancy going again. Neither of us would go to the festival if they paid us tbh but I know there are normally some smaller meetings in the spring. I knew the fixture list was supposed to be published earlier this month so I said I would let him know the dates. We tend to need to plan ahead as he spends up to half the year in Japan.
As others have said it is now getting inconvenient.
Report jimnast September 27, 2023 12:27 PM BST
Salmon

I don’t think the fixture list will be much different to 2023 it’s just the start times which won’t affect Cheltenham anyway

Cheltenham April meeting 17-18 on their website,Hunter chase May 6.

Ah right.
Thanks.
Report DonegalPrince September 27, 2023 3:10 PM BST
yes Salmon, the larger courses tend to have their dates for  meetings  "reserved" and if they do not appear on website they may well know already and will tell you if you call. I have my hotels booked for everything next year up to and including Goodwood.

salmon -

Looks like the Racing Post have been reading your/this Thread the Forum again - as they do, for ideas for stories/features - often proven in the past.... as they have published a 'Fixture List' Opinion article ...

Fixture chaos can't be solved by Britain alone - and the premierisation concept isn't nearly radical enough

October is upon us and still we await the 2024 fixture list for British racing. We probably shouldn't be surprised because the body of work involved in making the premierisation concept fly really is unfathomable..............
Report jimnast September 28, 2023 1:29 PM BST
I wonder if saville would have suggested this if his racecourse raced on Saturdays ,there is still time for the bha to knock this on the head and save some courses from closing and punters finding other trips to go on ,on summer Saturdays.

The fact that it's the Levy Board which is stalling on premierization should be a massive source of embarrassment for the BHA. After all, the whole point of premierization is to boost the Levy yield. It's the only point of it, in fact.

Bur our rulers just seem to be beyond embarrassment.
Report WhiteHatJon October 8, 2023 9:27 AM BST
This is now a complete joke.

The BHA are not fit for purpose and our taking our sport down the greyhound route.

Very poor management IMHO.

The simple fact is that the racegoer is being totally ignored.

The BHA seem to think people will just roll up and the gravy train will roll on.

What about us racing fans who like to plan annual memberships, reciprical meetings, overnight stays, holidays, blah blah blah.

The sport of kings is run by a gang of fools.
Report jimnast October 9, 2023 11:00 AM BST
Spot on whitehat and the gang of fools will move on to other occupations in the not to distant future and will very quickly forget about the mess they left behind and certainly will not care.

Email from ROA yesterday 18.01
Please see below an email from the British Horseracing Authority, ahead of the publication of the 2024 fixture list, which is scheduled for public release at 12.30pm tomorrow, Tuesday 10 October.

As you are aware, last October saw a material change to the governance of the BHA which in turn has meant that the process for agreeing the 2024 fixture list changed from that of previous years. The Fixture List process is one part of the wider industry strategy and for the past 12 months the Commercial Committee has focused on this extremely important piece of work.  The Commercial Committee is chaired by David Jones, Senior Independent Director of the BHA, and has representatives from both the racecourses and the participants, including myself. The Commercial Committee continues to meet, and we will remain central to the ongoing debates and decisions as the detailed race programmes behind the fixture list are finalised. The BHA board approved the changes to the 2024 fixture list, and we must convey our thanks to the Levy Board for their support in funding these changes.

The 2024 fixture list does see some material changes from previous years as you will note. The Commercial Committee and wider sport will be watching closely the results of these changes over the coming 12 months to understand what further action can be taken to safeguard the future of our sport.
