I could have sworn that SHERGAR - Won that Haynes, Hanson & Clark Stakes
- most recently just run at Newbury 3:35

googled - 'Haynes, Hanson & Clark' - and it came up with the/their Wine Merchants website ...

Part of the intro on the site states ...

'Our sponsorship marks a feat that only six other current serving sponsors can lay claim to in British Racing. We are immensely proud of our long-standing commitment to this race and to British Horseracing'

Then a list of previous Winners

WHERE is SHERGAR on that List? - I thought  ... The horse is MISSING.

What an astounding omission, methinks. Sad

Then - I see that - Haynes, Hanson & Clark -
Started their sponsorship of the race  the year AFTER Shergar Won the race .... when it was known as the - Kris Plate -
- and had been Won by subsequent Derby Winner Henbit - in the previous year to Shergar (the inaugural Kris Plate race)

Mystery solved. Grin

Shahrastani finished really strongly in 1985, and would have won in another couple of strides. About 17 runners.
