Possibly the IHRB won't reciprocate the ban and he can continue to challenge for the apprentice title here.
Or he can appeal to extend the start of the ban. I've not seen any of the rides but maybe he can say that some of the strikes didn't land on the horse and shouldn't count as strikes, thereby leaving him below the permitted level. You'd think his master would have handled this a bit better by not letting him say "I get a bit mixed up between the rules in Ireland and England" |

Possibly the IHRB won't reciprocate the ban and he can continue to challenge for the apprentice title here. Asked by the panel what his suspension should be, Bowen requested it only apply in Britain to allow him to continue his challenge on the Irish apprentice title, in which he is five winners behind Jamie Powell. The panel said this was not within their powers as any ban would be reciprocated by other racing jurisdictions. |

Not letting him say "I was aware I was over the limit but I felt I needed to give him every chance of winning" might have been a good bit of advice too?
I'm wary of DQing horses for jocket whip offences as it provides a perfect way of throwing races - but until we do, this is going to happen, potentially with the conivance of connections "if you have to thrash him to get the win, we'll cover your losses while you're banned"? |

Didn't the Irish authorities not reciprocate a ban fallon had in France/England?
He (SDB) can make the case to the irish authorities that he obeyed the Irish rules and therefore it shouldn't be applied to him in Ireland. @Longbridge 1:21 comment I was just pointing out that its not good admitting that you get mixed up as to what country you were in and what rules apply. .............. This looks to be a case of banning him because he's small fry. They could send him on a course, give him lessons, retrain/train, provide a mentor etc.. but no instead slap him with a 35 day. He's only an apprentice ffs. The authorities both side of the pond/sea really don't have the kahuna's to deal with the true problems in racing, doping being the one that is front and center at the moment |

Yes, I do think upon watching the infringements, and after careful consideration by myself, the hapless jockey should be banned, and quite harshly, I might add.
