Maybe the Tote are limiting people’s accounts and that’s having an affect on pool sizes
By:
Good question Charbar ?
By:
... Had £2 going on If not now !! Nearly pulled up .. ffs. Funny they couldnt give it away at the off, must be coincedence.
By:
Tote dont just limit accounts, they close them.
At least betfair give you £100 per month in worst case scenario, tote wont even give that. |

I was asked to provide "voluntary" info on finances about a year ago.
Ignored the e mail and have not bet with them sice. Have got to be losing t/o so upping margins to compensate in all probability. |

I got this. I refused call - why would i take it when my lifetime loss is about £300? ..... I am following up with an email as we have recently tried to contact you to discuss your recent activity on your Tote account, but your phone was switched off.
Here at the Tote, we understand how busy some of our customers are so I wondered if you could kindly provide a suitable time to speak with you to avoid us missing you again or causing you any inconvenience. Our team operates Monday to Sunday and can call you between 8:30am – 5:30pm. Whilst we await contact from you, we have applied a temporary hold to your account. This will remain in place until we have spoken with you and completed our account review. In the meantime, you can find all our available safer gambling tools and support by clicking here. You can also change how you prefer us to contact you by going to My Account > Marketing Preferences. We look forward to speaking with you soon! Kind regards |

Yes, if you thought that the betfair safer gambling team were a bit over the top, try dealing with the totes. They are the absolute worst, no wonder their turnover is down.
The sad thing for punters is that the exchanges and pool betting are meant to be punter vs punter and winners welcome. However, all this safer gambling affordability nonsense means that you cant bet anywhere now, win or lose. |
By:
Frm memory think my total deposits were around £1800 with returns about £3,200 so I was well in front.
Obviously appointing people to do these jobs when they have no idear about betting whatsoever. Probably sets them up with credentials to work for the Gamblimg Commission. ![]() |

By:
How strange, the Totes Mouthpiece ( westberks ) keeps telling us nobody is banned from the Tote and " winners are welcome ". Surely he is not telling Porkies. ??
By:
I certainly wasn’t banned for winning, though I did suspect at the time it was to avoid paying me the 10% bonus on winnings that they used to offer ( that offer has gone now).
Nobody is welcome at the tote. If they were, Westberks wouldn’t have to spend all his time shilling on a rival betting companies forum. |
By:
The Tote ceased to be punter v punter when it started betting in it's own pools. Now it's SP only, or as is the case with the PP, punters against insiders.

Very poor returns, folk begin to realise the take outs are far too high.

Westberks is like a drug pusher loitering outside a rehab centre, trying to get former addicts hooked again just as soon as they have got themselves clean.
He lurks around the forum, trying to get reformed pool betting addicts to blow all their betfair spend budget on his higher margin more dangerous tote products. Predatory. |
By:
How do the tote getaway with displaying prices that are not available?
By:
When O when will they realise there takeout in the placepot is far to much ffs it should be half as much.
By:
Agree all the way Acey, nothing wrong with a 10% takeout imo.
By:
... btw, do the Tote make public a detailed list of just wherabouts all the profit goes ??
By:
Had my AC on tote 18 months ago, settled for £1500 a month, would stake at least a grand and got some brilliant returns in past, was about level or abit in front over the year but with the takeout and SP's rarely have a punt on there now, just wait for big rollovers now. They missing out on at least 10 grand staking from me a year and I can't be the only one.
By:
The Placepot has always been a sleeping giant, poorly marketed and a shockingly high takeout.I think it could be massive if they got some sharp minds on it.

Predatory. I don't think that spamming on here can be compared with sending free-spins to self-confessed addicts that have self-excluded. One is just a breach of the forum rules - the other carries multi-million pound fines. Pull yourself together BR ffs. |

The Tote will be adding to the pool throughout the afternoon
By:
it was a joke, the management.
but they do have an online casino on their site too, so perhaps some jail time could be in order for westberks, as well as all the other casino/slots promoters who you want to see imprisoned. and given that the tote margins are actually way higher than most other betting products, he will be lucky if he ever sees the light of day again. |
By:
"I always dive in when there is a decent pot."
Would you dive in if you knew the operator was playing in it in huge size at an unfair advantage that effectively gives them an extra 5-10% (that's my estimate)? |
By:
I was aware it was a joke BR - but it's not really a laughing matter is it, given the consequences.
Think about it: Sending free-spins to self-confessed addicts that have taken some responsibility and self excluded themselves. No, it's still not funny imo. |
By:
Its not exactly the crime of the century either is it.
If a self excluded slot addict got sent a free spin email in error, it hardly warrants jail time. Could they not just have deleted the email? Im sure their junk email is stuffed full of free spin offers from all sorts of dodgy companies anyway. Mine is, and ive never even played them. |
By:
Yeah, you're right - giving away free samples to recovering addicts is a victimless crime.
By:
oh go away the management, with your self righteous holier than thou attitude.
We've been through this. It was most likely an administrative error, for which the company were fined and paid the price for. Not all slot addicts are hopeless victims. The reason these games exist, is because people want to play them. Same as the reason drug dealers exist, because people want drugs. In both examples, some people get addicted, and lose everything. I dont like slots or FOBTs any more than you do, but people are going to play them regardless. The tote, is another outlet for betting that i can no longer use. How is stopping me from doing a placepot going to stop people getting addicted to online slots? It wont. You can educate people, just as you can educate people not to take drugs, but that is only going to go so far to solving the problem, its still going to happen. Where there is a demand, somebody is always going to step in to supply. Unless you have a proper solution to the problem, rather than just an anti bookmaker, anti betting industry rant about why they are all so evil and predatory and to blame for all this with their free spins and FOBT promotions etc, then stop bothering me. And if you really have been through as many bookmaker accounts as you claim to have, then you are just as big a part of the problem. The reason they need to keep rinsing mugs, is so they can pay people like you who just cant help themselves, taking all the easy money on offer, then coming back with new accounts every time an old one is closed. And i believe multi accounting is also illegal, so maybe if you are throwing people in jail for winning money, then a little stretch inside for you could be in order too. |
By:
You started out pretty rational - but when presented with facts - not so much so.
I'm genuinely sorry you can't have a bet to the amount you would like anymore (assuming you aren't a degenerate addict and you have just got caught in the crossfire). That's a real shame. But putting words into my mouth (because you can't argue/defend) the actual argument won't change that. The on-line bookmakers have fecked you over. If it makes you feel better to blame other people - carry on. I stated (I even numbered them) the reality of my beliefs on the other thread - but you are also very welcome to deliberately twist what I have said, if it makes you feel better to blame me and call me self righteous. But whatever you do, never, ever blame yourself for the situation you find yourself in and never ever blame the on-line bookmakers. |
By:
I dont blame myself or the bookmakers for the situation i find myself in. I blame the gambling commission, the anti gambling campaigners, and the media who supported them (and the so-called punters who should have known better).
Anyway, im not getting into another troll exchange with you. This thread is for slagging off the tote. So unless you want to comment on them seeding their own pools, their heavy handed safer gambling team closing too many accounts, or their scrapping of the bonuses on dividends and the terrible value of the world pool, then i suggest we leave it there. |
By:
Indeed - not only was what your 09:20 post (posted as a "joke" apparently) not very funny, it was also irrelevant to the thread.
By:
with how its structured now with whopper takeout %s & the scandalous house tickets, you are massive 2nd fav to win long term playing in anything other than (rare) big rollover pools
By:
Maybe not funny, but was relevant.
As if tote hadnt shut so many of its customers accounts, westberks wouldnt need to be on the betfair forum, encouraging people to bet into the tote through their betfair accounts (which is more or less what got my betfair account spend budgeted.) Again, in the name of safer gambling, tote shut my account. Which forces me to play through betfair or other outlets, where the minimum stake is much higher, and the payouts are lower. Just like all the other safer gambling measures being bought in, totally flawed logic, which makes things more dangerous for the gambler, not safer. |
By:
Very sad - and no way whatsoever that you could possibly have seen it coming.
By:
Can we not just say the new " guardians " of the Tote are a bunch of khoonts and leave as friends. ?
By:
It was sad. And no, i was unable to do anything about it. Just like that slot addict who was unable to stop himself going on an online casino binge because he received a free spin email.
Cant be anything sadder than hanging around a betting forum though, when you dont even bet. |
