Poor old 123 cannot bring himself to recognise the excellence of Ryan Moore.
Report impossible123 September 9, 2023 6:20 PM BST
AOB played a blinder. I think Auguste Rodin was gifted the race; Mostahdaf would have murdered them had he run.

King Of Steel? What was he doing at the back, along with Nashwa? The former led Auguste Rodin at Epsom yet allowed Auguste Rodin and his stablemates dictated the pace at the front. Barmy, I say.

Moore did everything right. The pilots on King Of Steel and Nashwa much less so, I firmly believe.
Report brain dead jockeys September 9, 2023 7:11 PM BST
the form of auguste rodin's 2 derby wins and todays is hardly rock solid. beating king of steel, adelaide river and luxembourg by narrow margins is mediocre. and he finished last in his two other runs this season. remarkable to win 4 g1's with him. he will be hailed as a great horse by AP and co but they really got away with it today. why ace impact didnt turn up is beyond me. this was not a great race.
Report impossible123 September 9, 2023 7:21 PM BST
Ace Impact has The ARC as his major priority. However, I think he may turn up in the Champions Stake at Ascot if he bombs there.

Mostahdaf would have walked into the winner's enclosure today had he run.
Report truehoncho September 9, 2023 7:45 PM BST
I think he will win the breeders cup turf if he goes. Its right up his street.

Yes to a point.
If he gets lucky he might stretch it to a few seasons, ala Chaz Appleby, but AOB has done it for nearly 30 years.

Yes he has the best horses but cannot keep getting lucky for the length of time he's done it.

When Henry Cecil went through a bad patch it was because the horses were no good. Frankel comes along and he's a genius again. Its all nonsense calling these people great. They couldn't do it if they trained class 6 handicappers.
Report truehoncho September 9, 2023 8:36 PM BST

Obviously a very very talented man, and a great trainer.

But why people have to use the word genius is beyond me.

There are very few who deserve the title "genius". And it certainly is not someone who trains a horse to run fast.
Report truehoncho September 9, 2023 10:10 PM BST

When Aiden retires, one of his sons will take over. I wonder what will happen then.  Will all the Classic and Group One winners dry up or will the son be a genius as well.
My guess is very little will change because he will have the same owners breeding from the best sires or spending fortunes at Tattersalls.
Report lingbleed September 9, 2023 11:13 PM BST
William Haggas has said that he doesn't know how AOB got all them Galileo s to run as 2 years olds. He said if AOB had trained Baeed he probably would have run multiply times as a 2 year old. Plus AOB didn't start off at Coolmore he earned the job by doing so well with the horses he had.
i think its unfair to say anyone in the same position would get the same result.
Report elisjohn September 10, 2023 7:39 AM BST
does he really have competition ,  bar gosden and occassional godolphin , hes got an open playing field    , in the era of eg sir henry, you had world class trainers , hern, young stoute cumani, harwood, john dunlop, vincent, fabre , brittain, richard hannon, barry hills,   and then we had great great racehorses
Report nijinsky70 September 10, 2023 1:20 PM BST
People forget that Aidan started out with moderate NH horses and broke the trainers record in his first year. It was only after a couple of record breaking years that John Magnier asked him to train flat horses at Ballydoyle. Magnier doesn't make many business mistakes.

you shower of wanchors wouldnt recognise a genius if you were abused by one on the forum

if ada is then joseph is greater as hes won far more group races at the age of 13 than his old man had at that age

genius is bollox and has little to do with racing, aside from the con trick perpetrated by dame martha prescott who has persuaded the racing media hes a shrewdy but is in reality the most wasteful of horse-racing blue-blood talent than anyone aside from dusty bin suroor

the brains is magnier who swiftly realised that even coolmore couldnt just engage in an orgy of spendthrift hoovering of equine talent and they had to find a better way, and breeding their own was the way to do it. they obviously dont run it as a business but couldnt sustain the gigantic losses that godawful do, as they dont have the keys to the treasury

im delighted they esist as without them the horrible dirty cheating low-life vermin towelheads and their vile hangers-on would have the game to themselves
