Not the same thing, but that does remind me of a southern trainer, many years ago, who regularly used to run no-hopers (and others) at Haydock Park. Apparently he would always stay overnight with a friend!!

You don't get journalists like him anymore, can remember when he did the hot dogs report and got death threats. Now 80 hope hes enjoying his retirement well deserved.

interesting to see it again. Pretty much a complete load of cr@p though.  Never mentioned that these young horses win races and then get handicapped up to their ability so you sell them on and get a new batch if you want winners/strike rate.  Of course Cook wouldn't have the knowledge to know it and discount it on purpose anyway.

One of his WEAKEST Cook Reports, has not aged well and was flawed at the time.

This bloke despite his good intention he'd use dodgy tactic to spice-up a story.

I'd a part-time job in the summer working as a sales assistant in my student days. A bloke came into the store (now I know it's Mr Cook) and started harassing my then boss; Mr Cook deliberately initiated pushing, shoving, elbowing, bumping and wrestling with my boss. He'd also manufacture strange microphone noises (during editing) to give the impression Mr Cook was at the receiving end of the fraca in the transmission.

This type of journalism will not work these days given the existence of camera phone.
