The Saturday meeting following on from Royal Ascot was always known as - Ascot Heath (meeting) -
- until - in 2002 - Saturday was incorporated into - Royal Ascot.
1n 1971 - The Saturday Heath meeting was Abandoned - due to the course being unfit, following torrential rain.
They had got through the Final day (Friday) of Royal Ascot on Heavy going.
A year earlier, though, the Saturday meeting is listed in the Form Book as - Royal Ascot.

There was a General Election on the Thursday - so NO Racing - and the card moved to Saturday - including the Gold Cup. |
