Sorry for aftertime, but how was Roccos Storm top there - first beaten in first circuit and didn't have anything going for it for me.

Not knocking it, but just wondering how top rated (went off around 40)

stu - Sorry about that . Didn't realise it was gonna run like a drain .
To make up for it I'll find you a 50/1 top rated that's going to bely it's odds at another meeting and post it on here as a special bonus for yourself Love

JUst couldn't work out a factor that would put it anywhere near top, that's all? Wondered which factor gave it that score?

Fair enough - maybe my own reading was placing more emphasis on it's lack of a run (and I guess the market did that too)...

raynards ratings are his ratings, doesnt really matter how he rates them. he doesnt charge for them and my guess is he probly get some decent price winners

I never back blind on any ratings, but GL with it.

I don't expect anybody to back 'blind' on anything . Use in conjunction with ones own form assessment .

The longshot top rateds not quite firing today then.

It's a long game if you're backing longshots though...
By:

what I meant earlier is that I wouldn't bet or 'use' a rating that I had no info on how it's constructed. Unless there was a massive winning record linked to the ratings I could see...

I'm just interested in how ratings are constructed though, in particular for top rated.

The formula is based on statistics eg. Trainer form , Jockey/Trainer comb , Course/Race history etc.
Ratings + Form analysis = PROFIT !!! Cool
By:
stu
When: 28 Aug 23 15:14
Do you adapt/change your ratings system e.g. weightings for different variables?

How are you doing overall in results, e.g. top rated? Have you recorded it.
By:
Reynard
When: 28 Aug 23 15:45
Yeah , I guess so . Grateful for small mercies me Plain

Definitely in profit but not all meetings posted on here . Of those that are I'm showing a level stake profit of somewhere between 10-20% (industry sp/Betfair sp) . Cool
By:
stu
When: 28 Aug 23 15:47
Long term game for sure yes, so just have to keep it above the line -commission...
By:
Reynard
When: 28 Aug 23 15:53
Should say 10-20% before commission (Industry sp not subject to commission) .

For example I posted my 2021 Derby ratings an hour before the race and backed Adayar @ 50/1 . But only documented it as a 16/1 winner because that was the returned sp .
So in reality it was far more profitable for myself and my private clients than it was actually recorded Cool

You also have private clients?

Didn't realise that...
