Nsshwa was the one to take out of that
By:
hardly rode him to sleep ffs..better horse won.
By:
Nonsense imo , best horse won on merit and change jockeys same result.
By:
Paddington ran well just outstayed. A good tactical approach by mr Gosden to ensure a good pace to try and stretch Paddington (succeeded enormously) and also to help Nashwa who stays 10f very well with a kick finish.
By:
They shoud've been a length or so closer.
Nashwa ran a cracking race |
By:
tiresome unimaginative cliche that should be avoided like the plague
i ride the mrs to sleep regular |
By:
Wonder how Crowley would have done.
Well done Gosden for not running scared like everyone else. Paid off with a 1-2 |
By:
He didn't ride him to sleep, he set a searching gallop and dragged him into the deep water, if Moore had gone with him earlier he'd have been lapped, off the back of the Goodwood slog it's just been one race too many and that test today that Dettori set insured it.
By:
Dictated the race…simple
By:
Frankie won race and Paddington had to switch
when frankie cut back to inside. Paddington didn't have enough to make 2 efforts and go past. I doubt it was going past anyway But likely cost Paddington 2nd place. Bit like Emily couldn't go past Paddington. |
By:
Vintage Frankie, seeing him look behind showed he had plenty left in the tank, I think it is harsh to blame Moore.
By:
No one is blaming Moore........just a total class ride from Dettori. Took TOTAL control.
By:
Close enough if good enough & he wasn't.
By:
No more 10f for Paddington I envisage. He was well placed; still a very good horse Paddington.
By:
Good front running performance from the winner.
Paddington feeling the effects of a long season competing at the highest level imo. They’ll give him a break and a breather now. |
By:
Well done Frankie ... top ride and dictated the pace superbly
Only 4 runners but still a great race |
By:
It was a very good race to watch, I done my dough on the jolly but no complaints at all.
By:
He did a lot of things right including deliberately going wide on the bend to force Ryan inside.
Horse ended up tripping over himself having to switch out back out wide…losing more time that he didn’t have to begin with. A cunning tactic in us racing…albeit a little below the belt for my taste. |
By:
Did Frankie ride them to sleep on Gregory or did the best horse on the day win?
By:
Won the Eclipse,3rd here btn just over 1L,no reason why he won't run
over the trip again.Could well be suited by a bit of cut in the ground aswell.I can see him turning up @Ascot for the Chmpn Stks. |
By:
It’s good though…give Paddy a break now and let’s go…Classic time lol
By:
Fresh air shots only with the whip from Moore. I would bet the replays show only side on pictures. Even Ruby was not allowed to show head on pictures.
By:
yhtl post 15.45 nailed it as a race description.
By:
very similar to commanche run v oh so sharp that race
By:
The tactic adopted by the Gosden team was executed by Dettori to perfection, and exposed the stamina limitation of Paddington. I think Nashwa would have gone past Mostahdaf and Paddington even if Paddington had managed to get upsides Mostahdaf in the last furling.
Moore looked after Paddington by not going after Mostahdaf earlier; Paddington was off the bridle even with 3f to run. |
By:
Paddington has had a tough season and as his trainer also said probably one race to many.
By:
The winner was one of the most impressive winners at Ascot.
Chance he's a very good horse, in a purple patch. Paddington has had an excellent season, and may have suffered for hard season or may simply been beaten by a well ridden good'un. |
By:
Not so good on Gregory 8/11f when Dettori went off like a scalded hare and Moore judged the pace of the race to perfection.
By:
Indeed.
By:
Frankie still the best by a country mile, he has been for many years, shame he is retiring. Worst mistake Godolphin ever made was sacking him, Buick, Doyle and Co are not fit to lace Frankies boots.
By:
Frankie the greatest ever ambassador the sport too, unlike Mulrennan.

By:
Travesty that crowley was denied the ride.
Sheikh hamdan plus crowley are the ultimate mustard That horse is awesome,as usual totally underrated by the hacks |
By:
If anyone remembers the most difficult ride in the world, yes more difficult than lizzo it was the awesome rakti. Philip robinson was a maestro even when the headbanger pulled his arms off.
That lockhinge win |
By:
Frankie the greatest ever ambassador the sport too, unlike Mulrennan
testing positive for coke at Longchamp did his 'greatest ever ambassador' claims no favours ... |
By:
Dettori = quality the rest are commercial
By:
Dettori gave Moore a riding lesson….imo
By:
Frankie from the front is superb. Excellent judge of pace at the G1 tracks, which comes from experience. He'll win a few more big ones from the front before the end of the season for sure.

Today was the first time Paddington had raced on ground with 'firm' in the official going description and when he was being asked for maximum effort, his head was at angle, so not sure he was in love with ground that quick.
That said, his Eclipse time was very quick and they messed about with the going description that day, changing it from good to firm to good, but maybe there was a bit more cushion in the ground and obviously racing uphill. |
By:
Perhaps Paddington had a harder race than appears at goodwood making his move early on bad ground perhaps the most impressive winner at royal ascot 2023 is just a better horse.
Regarding frankie he is the most underrated sportsman in my lifetime and we and racing are going to miss him |
