.Farcical, some idiot is paid to plan this, never mind you can have a dozen to choose from on Saturday.

Couldn’t plan a day trip to Blackpool…imo..

It's the middle of August and lots of people on holiday so racing decides to have the fewest meetings of any day in the whole year...brilliant

The likes of the BHA planner had a name when I worked in the Shipyards .... " A waste of a pair of overalls " 

Both jump meetings too in the middle of summer.

Newton Abbot on a sundrenched afternoon in August ... why would a racegoer want to go anywhere else?

Well apparently we all trace back to Africa but a 1.5 degree increase in temperature is going to kill us all.

Bha concentrate solely on how to f..k racing up these people just move on to other jobs only caring about salaries.

I have the IJF calendar on the wall, printed last Christmas and yes, these were the only two meetings planned in UK today.

In the days when you could rely on the Consistency of the Racing Calendar ...

TODAY would have been the first day of the YORK - 3-day - Ebor Meeting.

Good point onlooker , in the times before we had to suffer the dilution of festival racing.

Quite agree, isleham.....No thought at all to the many thousands on holiday who might just fancy a day out at the races.

I might be in a minority but I love days like today, steady pace, concentration on specific races, not jumping about to other distractions. And good spread with one meeting following from the end of the other.

I guess if you don't like jumps however, I could see the problem...

There's some Irish flat BTW for those flat addicted...

The only racing of any interest to me today would be in the USA.  But that's just me and takes no account of other flat racing fans.

Just 3 meetings all day today , up to 10 meetings some Saturdays.

Wherever the line in the sand is between 3 & 10 you can please some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time.

maybe if you were able to concentrate on specific races you wouldn't have to jump about to other distractions. 

presumably another massive fk up by the lamentable bha.

2 meetings in afternoon and 2 in the evening would be my preference. Saturday afternoons you can keep!

Lots of holidaymakers in Devon might fancy Newton Abbott today, but earlier you seemed to be implying it's cruel on the horses. Make your mind up.

That was in reply to what screaming said about a "sun drenched afternoon" in August whch of course would have nothing to do with the amount of people attending.

New rule, flat jockeys have to have one day off a month
