Farouk De Cheneau.  Won all 3 starts this season, heavily tipped up last night with a forecast SP of 6/4 in the Racing Post.  Drifted until starting at 9/2,  No surprise when it struggled in the race losing touch with half a mile to go.

The only explanation that pops into my head is that people knew it wasn't going to run well and laid it accordingly.

As a backer at 13/8 do I have a right to be upset?  Are there more "sporting" reasons that are likely causes for the under-performance?

Nine times out of ten a few minutes before the off when you see the drift on that scale you can normally bet your live that they know it is not going to win!

And is it fair to say that when it drifts in such a way someone is stopping the horse running to its true ability?

I'll put it down to experience then.  Maybe keep an eye out for the trainer or owner popping up again
