Grannys YARIS  -  5:20 Tramore

Is Granny a Taxi Driver ?

Is this a subliminal advert for that?
-------

I know some will say the likes of - 'Each to their own' - so ...

I suppose it was better than Naming it ..........

Going off at a tangent, I don't think there's ever been another Arkle has there?
Happy to be corrected...is it because it's too big a name to live up to?

There was an Arkle born in 1967 and 1996 according to https://www.pedigreequery.com/

.

Coolmore have an awful naming policy... maybe they have the name Arkle reserved?

1967 .... in VENEZUELA - cacique  ...

When Arkle was still racing.

Since those days - The Authorities brought in a PROTECTED NAMES Policy .... and you can bet your boots ARKLE will be on that List -

as will also be the likes of - ECLIPSE from 150 years ago.

All Classic Winners are PROTECTED (Name CANNOT be re-used) - as are the Winners of other significant races - probably such as - Ascot Gold Cup etc

In National Hunt - presumably, the likes of - Grand National  - Cheltenham Gold Cup - Winners etc.

the 1996 one is recent enough... but i'll stand corrected.

Nell Gwyn and Cherry Hinton are names that spring to mind for naming after a race...

And of course Seagram winning was their PR's wet dream!!

That looks like some kind of error - cacique

NO Arkle Listed on Racing Post (and their records are since 1988)

Checked the 1996 one on pedigreequerry - and when you click on 'Stakes Races' (the only Results that they give) - it gives the 1993 North Dakota Derby  - 3 years BEFORE that 1996 on was born -  BUT - NO ARKLE  in the Result of 1st 2nd or 3rd place ... so that makes no sense at all.

IDK - Granny's Yaris - good for 30mph for 2 or 2 and a half miles, wouldn't imagine it going further or faster?

It looks like the aussie Arkle (1996) ran at Sunshine Coast Turf Club on March 19, 2000, but I don't have a form book, and the web link craps out...

Does a nice or obvious name make horses run faster? Maybe why Weatherbys keep refusing Hesaque Hunt?

Unbelieveable but true : one om my great-grandfathers was actually called Isaac Hunt.
