Probert , Dobbs just in the last few minutes , but why do favs seem to get into more trouble than other runners ?   Even that Newmarket race  , the track is 30 metres wide , Probert only has 6 rivals and  2 were behind him and he is the only jockey to find bother.

They don't get in trouble more they're just noticed due to more punters backing them.

If your horse has a chance it`s down to the jockey to make an effort to avoid it! Most are not trying so just take the route that pans out for them.

Favs also seem to fall more often. When I back one in jumps, 12% either fall or unseat.

Favs that race in good positions never lose

everyday jock on everyday fav in everyday race, probably rules out the 2 most obvious decisions as it means theyve got to show judgement and its obvious to punters when that judgements flawed
ie ride from the frontor come from back turn of foot etc
so you,ve already wiped out 2 obvious methods of winning so inviting trouble, add in other jocks using those 2 tactics and your in an ever decreasing pool of tactics available to win the tace ,hence carnage more likely to ensue ,
nothing new as cram, coe, ovett, etc used to manage it every other yr in euro,s,olympics etc Laugh
