I'm happy because I was on the right end of a stewards for once.

But...

You got to wonder sometime

If I had backed the winner (and not traded out for whatever reason) I would be very, very disappointed with that decision.

Bookies didn't want to pay out for Hugh Taylor's selection. Also, what happens if you back such a horse at bookies? Do they give you the win at first and then remove the winnings later?

An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong when the winner, INTERGALACTICAT, ridden by Daniel Muscutt interfered with OPEN CHAMPION (IRE), placed second, ridden by Liam Keniry. The Stewards considered that the interference had improved INTERGALACTICAT’s placing as OPEN CHAMPION (IRE) was improving up the inside of INTERGALACTICAT when Muscutt’s mount continued to drift right-handed, resulting in Keniry’s mount to lose momentum, be taken off its intended line and switched to continue its run. Having been switched to continue its run, OPEN CHAMPION (IRE) stayed on strongly to be beaten a diminishing ¾’s of a length and revised the placings as follows: First - OPEN CHAMPION (IRE), Second- INTERGALACTICAT, Third- RICHARD P SMITH (IRE) and Fourth- SEA ME DANCE. Muscutt was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he failed to take sufficient steps to prevent his mount from continuing to drift right-handed, causing Keniry to be taken off his intended line for several strides.

The type that they could easily get back on appeal, considering that one of EJH's a few weeks back and others in recent times.

But that don't help the punters (and I was actually on the right side for once!), or make the stewards look like anything but twits.

thats ranks up there with the worst decision ive scene...very slighest of checks and wins 3/4L eased down? a hd or less then its a 50/50...punters beware,,tonite has set a new prescedent.

That cannot be upheld on appeal under the current rules

I concur with Rico. Stewards cannot possibly, in this Universe, be sure the second would have won with a clear passage.Interference was minimal at best. One horse kept the race the other day (rightly) after clobbering the runner up.Im staggered by this decision.

I bet the clobbered one other day in stewards, only 30 quid @4.4 but that will be my last ever bet in a steward's, was betting on past decisions which again I lost where I couldn't believe it. You've got to be mental to bet on them from now.
By:

When: 17 Aug 23 09:45
It's easy, if the stewards are mental, always take the bigger odds.

Trainer James Fanshawe will be appealing against the result of a stewards' inquiry after his runner, Intergalacticat, was demoted to second at Kempton on Wednesday evening despite the three-quarters of a length winning margin.

An inquiry was called to consider the placings of the 1m3f handicap after the three-year-old, ridden by Daniel Muscutt, had been deemed to interfere with the Alan King-trained Open Champion, who passed the post in second.

Fanshawe said: "After seeing the race, we weren’t shocked there was a stewards’ inquiry, but we were surprised the placings were reversed.

"We’re definitely going to appeal and we’ll see what happens because I was quite surprised by the decision as he looked like he was winning with something in hand."

I've only just seen this after reading about the appeal and also agree it's one of the worst decisions I've ever seen. Definitely will have to be wary of betting on enquiries if they are going to start throwing ones like this out. I would have seen it as pretty close to 1.01 to keep it. As was said on here before a head or a neck and maybe it's a 50/50 decision, a comfortable 3/4 of a length and it's madness to reverse. Surely gets it back on appeal.
