The wheels have fallen off big time. Looking pretty dismal for him at the moment and can't see it getting any better any time soon. I think Godolphin need a new trainer.

Not in my book Barstool, plenty of good horses but under performing dreadfully. I think he just got lucky with some very good horses over the last 2 or 3 years. Time for new blood (of the human variety).

Probably one of the best Trainers in England is Ralph Beckett imho,i worked for him Years ago and his attention to detail is second to none, as good as Gosden and Dick Hern who i also worked for.

The ones he sent Stateside have all flopped…and miserably too.
They even tried dragging Jamie Spencer all the way to Colonial Downs on Saturday to no avail.
My guess is you’ll see most of these bounce back in Meydan during the winter with their reduced handicap marks.

If Aidan O'brien and Appleby swapped places would you expect a different result??
No-one can train donkeys to win G1's year in year out.
Its their staff that are the driving force.

I absolutely would expect a different result. All those Frankel, Dubawi, Sea The Stars, Night Of Thunder etc donkeys??? Come on he's just not up to it.

Quite a good angle if you picked it up early enough though.
Plenty of the newcomers/maidens still going off fav and have been very easy to oppose en masse this season.

I would expect the same result if Aidan and Charlie swapped places...
Its the staff and the horses and the vets that are driving the success in Ballydoyle. Aidan is just the front man to talk to the cameras.

I don't think so Cacique. AOB was already a top trainer before he went to Ballydoyle and his son is showing he has picked up his talent. It can't be just down to good staff (although obviously that is important), they have to be managed and they don't make the final decisions. The whole family are very talented horse people and the very best of breeders as well in their own right.

@ Truehoncho... He took over from the wife who took over from Joe Crowley... so not really had to prove himself from the ground up. Unlike Gordon Elliot who i think is out of this world when it comes to training horses, but an odious man in every other respect.
Aidan has proved that he is quite excellent as CEO of a racing stable, and i use the phrase CEO in the sense that he is 4 or 5 layers of management away from the horses. But Ballydoyle and Coolmore were already the dominant force with Magnier, as chairman, there running the show. I have no doubt that if Aidan didn't produce he wouldn't have lasted.
But circling back to Appleby, he almost certainly doesn't have a chairman that demands results, or when the results are delivered no new standards are requested.
Godolphin were a fantastic idea back in early days, Moonshell/Balanchine/Mark of Esteem/Cezanne/Flag Bird but then started to expand and lost their way a bit. Now they are just another stable with runners in handicaps... not what Godolphin were originally about.
Bin Suroor has trained 1 classic winner since 2009 and still has a job.

I'm not sure what you are getting at regarding Appleby. He has a boss who owns everything and I assume he has to answer to? That's not really the point which is he is just not getting results and I think it won't get any better. As far as SBS is concerned, it's pretty accepted that he was put in the job as an Arab face of Godolphin and the show was run by someone else. Saying that he hasn't done badly with what he's been given which hasn't been very much over the last five years or so. AOB's record speaks for itself and he has had success with horses other than Coolmore, maybe he is just lucky that everywhere he goes all the horses are great and CA is unlucky that the biggest spending owner in the world is buying and breeding dross.
