There are rain clouds headed towards Chester. Might be lucky and just miss the course but more likely that the intermittent rain will turn the going heavy if it isn't that already. However the rain is not looking as bad as yesterday's at Goodwood. Timeform suggests that 4 runners in each of the last 2 races are heavy ground performers but the earlier races might be easier. The first has Alba Longa and Restorer as the best forecast of the month. There again, heavy going equals leave this race alone.

If you are not betting on soft / heavy ground you may as well go on holiday for a few weeks. I personally prefer a going bias when ( trying ) to find a winner. I live about a mile from the course and its not a bad day here so far, the sun is trying to come out with a drying wind.

The Beckett horse in the first looks the one to beat on the ground.

update .. ( Chester )  Been dry all Morning, sun is coming out now for what looks to be a nice day.

Moderate wind. Cant be Heavy ground imo. Happy

Few Helicopters flying in, Hope one is for Miss Rausing to watch hers win the first. Wink
