Came from the Dark beat Kings Lynn nearly a length giving 7lbs just over 2 years ago.

What a change of fortunes. Today, Kings Lynn is top weight with 9.11 whilst Came from the Dark is bottom of the pile on 8.7.  A 25lb turnaround.

Can't help feeling with that help, on soft ground Came from the Dark as a squeak. So well have a small w&p investment.

Old timers Summerghand and Mr Wagu could also go well.

Good luck, will be needed.

As usual I’ve had an awful Goodwood. It happens every year, and I never learn, and probably never will. Anyway the heavens have again opened for the final day 4.6mm since midnight (5am actually on the rain radar) through 11am (5.8 at 1.20pm) and it's now Soft (GS in places).

We need something which wins over 6f on an easy surface (sft-hvy) in handicaps or better (incl listed pattern) and at least class 3 or higher. There are 2 who match that criteria in two winning races. So i'll bet these two with Skybet first 8 EW market.

Aberama Gold – EW 16/1 Skybet - a 6yo who was progressive as a 2yo winning a listed race and ending up on a rating of 102 which initially proved too high and had to drop back to 92 to win in Nov of his 3yo year winning a 12k 6f hcap on soft going at Doncaster. Sustained his progress on the AW winning twice more  off 98 and 101. Had a lean time over the following two year hitting the frame every now and then until having dropped  down to a rating of 85 when winning on heavy going at Ayr over 6f. Kept bury on the AW over the winter returned to winning ways in June in two class 4 races, but showed a glimpse of his old form when taking the 34K class 2 hcap at York last Saturday. Has won after a 9 day break before and the penalty may no stop him at least hitting the extended frame.

Hyperfocus – EW 40/1 Skybet – a 9yo, so a place is what we’re hoping for and it’s the going which is the key as we need it to go soft. A 37% lifetime place rate, but on Soft or heavy going that jumps to 67%. He’s only encountered it 4 times in the last 2 years and finished 2,3,0,1 – the 0 was on it’s seasonal debut this year. The win at Ripon was on officially soft going and it’s last 3 have been good going. In previous seasons hse’s won off ratings of 85,90,90,86,85, but this season he’s won off 93 (5f but most of his winning has been 6f) and goes off 95 today so he's better than ever on his ground. He could very likely lead from his low draw and if it turns testing then he could hang on to a place.
