Yellow and red cards to increase after FA tells referees to get stricter
Plan to ‘reset the behaviour of players and coaches’ while fans face criminal proceedings for ‘tragedy chanting’
Referees will be “far stricter” on dealing with misbehaviour by players and coaches in the new season, with the FA expecting an initial rise in the number of yellow and red cards shown as a result.
Match officials have been told to issue at least one yellow card when two or more players confront them, as part of a campaign to improve behaviour at all levels of the English game.
