Thet can't afford the publicity that might occur but they are really happy to know what he fancies so their books can be adjusted accordingly as these are likey to be "live" ones. Same idea as offering trainers enhanced odds.

They would not be looking to Birchy to find out the live ones, who is generally only ever allowed in the paper on the days he is going to be nowhere near finding a winner.
