Good old Big Ron (didn’t see the show but he was on local radio the other night following Trevor Francis’ passing.
Was a Judas round here for a while but got forgiven then fk’d over the second time round by the chairman.
His autobiography is the only book I read start to finish in one sitting (and yes there are more than 10pm pages and no it’s not large print)

Thought Big Ron died years ago, turns out I was right.
Was doing a tour of local clubs recently, Q@A type thing, always liked Big Ron and assembled a very good team at the Villa.
Big Ron played for Headington united quite a few years before they won the league cup
That team included John Aldridge and Ray Houghton who went on to become huge players for Liverpool and Ireland. Ron had been long gone from Oxford when they won the cup in 86.
I remember nobody gave them a chance against QPR they wiped the floor with them
Big Ron effectively cancelled for using a bad word on a hot mic (yes a very bad word).
Ant McPartlin (of ant and dec fame), drives his car off his face with alcohol (with his mum as a passenger), wrecks his own car and two others, sends a 3yo to hospital as a consequence, welcomed back with open arms by the media set and now treated as if nothing happened.
A non crime against someone high up the identity hierarchy is perceived to be far worse than a real crime. Obviously there will be many many similar examples, it just shows how people can be manipulated to think a certain way. Big Ron's bad word is the first thing they tend to think of if Big Ron's name comes up (if they are old enough to remember) decades later, whereas McPartlin's actual serious crime is more or less forgotten.
