For many Punchestown racegoers the name David Dunsdon might not ring a bell, but were you to peruse the UK Rich Lists it would be floating around the top 100 in the south-east, just below Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton.
Based in the UK where he is managing director of the property company Coldunell, the 35-year-old has always had a passion for race riding and even rode Joly Bey in the 2005 Aintree Grand National, won by Willie Mullins's Hedgehunter. Dunsdon makes the trip to the Kildare venue today to ride REDHOTFILLYPEPPERS, a horse he bought for just over €200,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland Cheltenham May Sale in 2016 which is now in the care of Mullins and holds leading claims in the maiden hurdle (3.30). Having competed all over Europe as a jockey in his twenties and with more than 100 winners to his name in England throughout his career, Dunsdon is a capable pilot and will be hoping to repeat the heroics which saw him claim a New Year's Eve Bumper on the same horse at the track in 2016. |
