what a waste of time, from 400 entries only 76 declared, and no race has the max 14 runners, team Scotland have no runners in the first 3 races, and just 5 runners in the meeting, see the Irish not that interested, Richard Hughes horses running for the Irish.

Competitive racing with a mix of some likable old handicappers and some younger ones improving through the ranks all racing for prize money worth winning. What's not to like?

Would be nice to see full fields, still competitive enough though. Not had a proper look but with soft going very likely, Farhh To Shy jumps off the page at me with the track and 7F trip right in his wheelhouse IMO.
Going could be testing tomorrow if the rain comes as you say.
I'd be interested in Faustas who ran a stinker on good to firm ground last time out even though it doesn't like it lively.

I'll take a look at that one. Very competitive little sprint but the soft going should give you a useful angle into it.
With the exception of the 315 at sandown who would have thought Yarmouth would have a much better card than ,sandown,Newbury and Doncaster.
Not saying I’m a fan and certainly don’t like them racing in these colours but absolutely nothing wrong with the card.

To be fair manoleeds it would be very difficult to price up the series but none of the firm’s pricing up tonights basically shows there are no old style odds compilers anymore they just depend on this exchange.
Utter Utter Rubbish. Team sport horse racing doesnt work for me.
Perhaps somebody could ask Chapman how a horse trained by a Frenchman in West Sussex qualifies to run in the colours of Team Scotland? That's Nuit St Georges in the 8:00.
The teams make no sense at all. Hayley turner rides for Scotland ( was riding for the east last year), whilst Nicola currie, who I believe is Scottish, rides for team London.
Last year Dettori was welsh, now he is from the east. They just make it up as they go along, anyone can seemingly ride or train for any team. Bit of a farce too with the fields not filling and some teams hardly having any runners. Surely need to have an equal amount of runners from each team.

The Anorak. Yes I was wondering about that French/Sussex/Scotland connection too. There are others I can't work out as well.Definately not a fan of this format.
That said, I will probably still watch it. Watched most of it last year. Found it quite amusing watching the usually gravy trainers, who will get enthused over almost anything if you pay them enough, try to ram this down our throats and tell us how great it is.

Trainers and owners keep asking for better prize money, then when they get it, they still don’t run anyway! Not one race filled, despite being more than enough early declarations.
To be fair to it, it does look like good fun and something different for the jockeys involved, and gives some of the lesser known ones a chance to boost their profile and win better prize money. S ky bet have betting on the top team and top jockey for the series. Maybe some other firms do too.

Someone has ruined the price on my nap. Got most of my stake on her this morning as I did on Hodlier at Chester. It's unfortunate when Hugh tips one up that you're backing but it can also work the other way when he tips one one up in a race that you have something else you like.

Booster has summed up it up perfectly. I don't really buy into the team aspect of it all, but those involved seem to enjoy it. As a punter, it makes for a refreshing change when all you get served up is string of class 6s for the majority of the week
It is good prize money, if you're qualified to run, but there's also good money on offer elsewhere this weekend and at Goodwood next week.
As an owner myself, given the choice of an evening at Yarmouth or an afternoon at Goodwood, I know which I'd opt for. And at Goodwood, the horse would run in my colours, with my choice of jockey.

Without these meetings the tracks they are held at would not have the quality or the prize money for a midweek evening meeting in the normal fixture list so you are not comparing like for like Alan although I get your point about choice.
I very much doubt the fish n chips at goodwood are as good as Yarmouth

The fish you get in Yarmouth is probably from the same source as most courses i.e Icelandic frozen at sea!!

You might have been lucky jimnast and had fish fried in beef dripping as opposed to veg oil,my mate owned two fish and chip shops in Yarmouth and Gorleston and would use nothing else,makes a huge difference!!
Doubt they would get away with it there jimnast,too many vegan types, Yarmouth not so bothered about clogged arteries!!

Whatever Chapman says about the crowd,it is deserted compared with my last visit.I left after the second race but by then you would not have found a free seat anywhere so definitely not a crowd puller.

Good Fibre-filled breakfast - No Lunch - No Snacks (apart from some Nuts, or an Apple - occasionally a banana butty) - Lots of drinks of Tea - Evening meal - sometimes Crumpets or Cheese & Biscuit supper.
