Amanda Perrett - wins Epsom race on appeal

Good couple of days for her,same horse won @Windsor yesterday.

And the punters money?   What about the other race like it ? Was it Chelmsford ( the other one that got thrown out for moving wide )

would he have won the second won if he'd won the first one, handicapper only nudged him up 1lb,  now wins both, quids in.

Connections of 2nd horse at windsor will be peeved as the horse escaped a 5lb penalty.

not sure, think he was reassessed as nudged up 1lb?

The horse won off 82 in March yet was running off 74 5 runs later. Not about the reversal specifically but it allowed him to be fptp. Not the differential between flat and aw as he was off 84 at Windsor following the March win.

I know that they are meant to be giving them more of an opportunity these days, but it does show how it pays off to be inconsistent.

Original decision was a joke to be fair, no idea what is going on with the stewarding these days.

And yes, I lost money on the fpp.  Watched the race live and didn't even realise there had been a stewards until a checked my account balance later that night!! 

A bizarre chuck out to say the least.

I thought the stewards called it correctly on the night.

But there ya go, it's all about opinions, the stewards made a 'refereeing' decision, but the appeal panel who hold the power to reverse their decisions, decided to do so on this occasion.

if it had fallen down the camber then nothing to see, it's Epsom, hang the other way and they've got you, or not as it turned out.

They're just undermining the stewards imo

"The panel spent half an hour considering its verdict before chairman Philip Curl revealed it was not persuaded Magical Merlin would probably have won with a clear run. He thanked both sides for the clarity of their arguments in assisting with a difficult decision."

So if it was a "difficult decision", then why are you changing it? Surely you should only be reversing the stewards' decision if:

1. You're absolutely certain they've got it wrong
2. New evidence has come to light that was not available to the stewards on the day.

However, the stewards on the day stated that the intimidation and carrying MM off its line had gone on for most of the final furlong, so who's to say they weren't justified in making the decision they came to?

"An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race following interference inside the final furlong involving the winner, COUNT OTTO (IRE), ridden by Benoit de la Sayette, and MAGICAL MERLIN (IRE), placed second, ridden by Adam Farragher. The Stewards considered that the interference was accidental and had improved the placing of COUNT OTTO (IRE) as the gelding had shifted right-handed despite the rider’s best efforts, intimidating and moving the fast-finishing MAGICAL MERLIN (IRE) notably off its line for most of the final furlong, to be beaten by a quickly diminishing neck."
