I did post it on another thread, but just wanted to know when was the last time a horse was promoted up 2 places in the steward room in the UK? and has any horse been promoted more places than that in the UK?

i.e, finished 3rd but promoted to 1st after the race

plus any other anomolies anyone can think of?

Replied on other thread, 1974 Queen Anne Stakes at Ascot, disqualified 1st 3 who were well clear of Brook, italian horse i think who was awarded race even though about 5 lengths behind 1st 3, it's on youtube.

Royal ascot early 70s in the Queen Anne first 3 thrown out

The horse on the outside leaned left
The horse on the inside leaned right
The horse in the middle went for a gap that wasn’t there

the horse in the middle got DQ for forcing its way through jimnast?

I can imagine if the exchange was going back then it would have been nuts.

is that one race in '74 the only one in peoples memory?

Surely there have been quite a few races where jockeys have taken the wrong course resulting in multiple disqualifications?

What Tiger said - didn't the leader take the wrong route coming back on to the main course in the Cross-Country at Cheltenham a few years ago, with some of the chasing pack following, and numerous disqualifications for wrong course being taken?  My memory may be playing up, of course.
