Just read the 7lb claimer has been banned for 10 days for excessive use of the whip,the RP states he hit his horse 13 times in the last furlong including 2 double strikes.Not something I had ever heard before and assume they mean hitting the horse twice without drawing the whip forward for the second tickle?
Is this wording peculiar to Ireland and do I have it right? If so it seems a superfluous comment as there surely cannot be any power behind a second hit if the whip is still in the backhand?
That apart he looks as old as John Egan or Shane Kelly?

Mentioned it in the race thread last night but it got lost among the usual posturing and whataboutery on here.
It was a dreadful ride that looked worse in real time. He should've got longer than 10 days on the sidelines as well. Rides longer than Andrew Thornton and he's on the flat! Can you be a 55 year old apprentice in Ireland?! |

I had never heard of him SS and stewarts rise who knows a bit about the Irish game had not either.Is he 55 years old,certainly looks it and if so it must be some sort of record for an apprentice you would think?
Just an aside regarding the RP,I wonder why they headlined the story giving the anti brigade more fuel? |
