This wonderful French Icon was actually British not that it really matters, didn't have a clue what all those moaning noises were when this song was released, but i really liked them. Wouldn't it be marvellous if it were to be played at her funeral, RIP Jane and god bless you for awakening this young man all those years ago.

To get back on track - as mitolo respectfully suggests
Jane Birkin has a long relationship with Serge Gainsbourg - who wrote and 'sung' the song - 'Je t'aime' He had originally recorded it with Brigitte Bardot - whilst having an affair with her - However, Bardot's husband - the wealthy playboy Gunter Sachs demanded (or paid-off) Gainsbourg to Not release the record ... as a consequence, some years later, Serge Gainsbourg re-recorded the song with his then partner Jane Birkin... and the record shot to Number 1 in the Charts. Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin ... Talk about 'getting the Double up'. |

Gainsbourg was certainly no oil painting, so makes one wonder quite what Bardot and Birkin saw in him.
I suppose it was simply his artistic genius... . ![]() |
