I think we have Rico. It is nearly always a top class indicator of Classic form. As Lucky has just said, 3/1 not a bad price. I have had a bob or 2 on at 7/2. Be surprised if you can't get out at the end of the season with a free bet granted the horse stays sound.

City of Troy is by Justify who won the American Triple Crown. This might tempt connections to a US-centric campaign, starting with the Breeders Cup. The Kentucky Derby is run on 2,000 Guineas day, and he can't be on both sides of the Atlantic at once.

Excellent speed figure against all three other 7f races on the card. The lowest I could make it is 123, which you'd get if the winner of the fillies' handicap merely ran to her mark.

If he wins the Guineas and Derby the bookies will get a right proper kicking that they deserve. They were incredibly generous with their 20/1 post his debut win in Ireland for either race. But, will he?

Diego Velasquez could be the other. He was sharing pole position for The Classics with the winner today. I think the winner of the Superlative could be the real deal for next year's Classics.
I think today was nurturing, educating and racecourse familiarisation. Also there was a spare seat next to Little Big Bear mode of transport; 3rdly the availability of 20/1.

What price do you think the books should be offering on a once raced maiden wnr for a race 10 months away? He was certainly impressive today but when was the last time the wnr of this race went on to Guineas glory?

If aiden said... Listen, this is my best horse then 3/1 would be good, but when interviewed his biggest comment seemed to be about the horses speed, and much else was unknown to him.

He was small and a little unsubstantial if the truth be told. However he won really well and there were some really nice horses behing him. 7/2 for the guineas is bonkers. How far did Little Big Bear win the Pheonix last year?

interesting points by screaming and honcho. I take the point about 7/2 as a price. I have never backed a horse so early at such a price for Newmarket. It may be I will end up with a NR or one that is overtaken by others. I cannot remember many G2 juvenile races won by 6l+ on the snaff. The Chesham 3rd was beaten 10l. I don't agree that A O'B was in any way lukewarm. Far from it. Nor was RM. Anyway, I have taken a view and we shall see. The National Stakes will be decisive I think.

I'm aware of the date Truehoncho. As I said, not something I've done before. By the time you wait until the Dewhurst it may be 4/6! Depends upon how one approaches these things. If....and I agree if...it is as good as I and others think it is, then waiting is no good. I am not a £2000/3000 punter so if I wait, I wont back it at all. I may end up doing the stake I've put on for this on hopeless each way shots that fall off the back of the screen in the 2000G. But I take your point. I assume you were there to make the comment about composition? I ducked out after Thursday with the forecast for Friday and today. Hope you enjoyed it and not too wet. Good luck.

3/1 (best) is a silly price 10 months away. It's AOB specified; Shaquille was 5/2jf, and this was trainer and AOB related too. Without Little Big Bear Shaquille would have been no bigger than 6/4. However, had Shaquille been trained by AOB or Gosden he'd have been 1/1 or shades odds-on.

This is mad. The second horse was beaten 2.5l by River Tiber a couple of weeks ago. So thats only 4 lengths RT has to make up on him and I can assure you he is a far better specimen by a more proven stallion than todays winner. Anything less than 10-1 is mug punting.

interesting to look back on Rico's initial post, then mine of 1538, 1910 , Truehoncho of 1914 and my reply of 1945. Not quite 4/6 but.....please don't think I am seeking to assert my wisdom on this. My point was that if you wait, you are left with lumping on at short odds.....Of course it doesn't always go right. I had Inspiral at 25/1 for the Guineas and Palace Pier at 33/1. So unlucky but no £ at the end of it. The same may happen here. But, imho, in disagreement with some, 7/2 after the Superlative was good value IF one thought it was that good. I did. It is.

not sure what your point is fota? I said I had backed it in July. It isn't a tip. Hype? Well, just saying it was impressive then and more impressive now. I was simply trying to engage in the discussion that at a given price, the fact that the target may be 10 months away is irrelevant, depending upon the ability of the horse and the price. If ...IF.. (and I accept the risk involved) this horse runs on May 4th, 7/2 will look a very good bet. That's all I was saying. Anyway, good luck chap............................ffs!

ha ha. What a k..b I am ! My apologies fota. As will be obvious from some of my other Saturday post-racing comments I am not averse to a glass or two of fizz on the racetrack. My judgement fails me often. Yes, I am looking forward to May 4th but the tale of the last few years is "great price...no £" At least if I get windy I can lay now. Also had a few £ AP (at bigger oddes!) on Ancient Wisdom to beat him at Epsom. All the best

by the way Honcho, should you pick this up. I saw him today for the first time and your view of him as "insubstantial" is spot on. Not an imposing sort at all. I know too little about horse development to pontificate but he looks a horse that will not grow a huge amount. he may not need to of course.

Certainly an impressive performance and a worthy ante post fav but they don't all win -Tromos springs to mind -though the jockey's ride in the Craven was peculiar.

"He really is our Frankel," said Tabor, among the most respected figures in global racing and believing every word he was saying. "I know the way Aidan speaks. We're all optimists, but this horse is special. No question, he's the real deal.
"That's what we feel at this moment. Maybe down the line we'll have egg on our face, but I like to talk before the event and I really feel this horse could be anything."
