multiple group 1 winners as three year olds and a total disaster when kept in training.............these three will remind coolmore why they should retire paddington and ausguste rodin at the end of the season.

Yeah, but sometimes they (Darley/Coolmore) have too many stallions and not enough mares to retire all their G1's winners.

Coolmore will have, at least, Blackbeard/Little Big Bear/August Rodin/Padington... The Antartic(cheap speed)/Age of Kings(more cheap speed) from 2020 crop.
That's 1,200 mares just for them!!

Darley don't do national hunt stallions, so might as well race them

Not sure about that cacique. No point running horses that have potential stallion careers. Modern Games?
Report cacique July 13, 2023 8:06 PM BST
Any mile and 4 plus winner these days is destined for national hunt stallion or gelded and go to australiaExcitedSurprised

But Godolphin/Coolmore don't run their operations for the betterment of racing.
Not too sure of godolphins purpose but Coolmore is money!

You may be right but even so running them is pretty pointless.
Report cacique July 13, 2023 10:45 PM BST
might as well run them... what else are they going to do with them

be a great King George if we get all the big hitters turn up

3 derby winners, King of Steel, Emily upjohn, Pyledriver, Hukum, Westover, Luxemberg/point Lonsdale.... and they all might have a chance.

(but probably will only get Auguste Rodin from the 3)

Julian Muscat's article in the Post the other day, reckons Charlie Appleby / Goldolphin could be in for a lean spell with an ageing Dubawi perhaps not going to be the supplier of top-notchers for them that he has been in recent years.

Just had a look at who's on the Darley roster of stallions, and tbf a few there with potential, notably Cracksman following the spectacular French Derby success of Ace Impact from his ? first crop.

Godolphin has really changed from it was first was...

I don't think Darley (or the people at Darley)will ever get out of that rut of "we'll buy everything and hope something sticks"
They have such a mis-mosh of sires & locations that they don't seem committed to anything.

Thankfully sir Henry kept frankel in training at 4

Trainers do not make the decision to keep horses in training unless they own them.hth

Jimnast

Totally agree and in one of Henrys' interviews he thought Frankel could even be better at 5

Thanks Cagliari yes that does help I hadn’t realised it

The OP seems not to understand that racehorses are bred for the job of running in races and we should applaud the likes of Shadwell,Juddmonte,Godolphin and Coolmore for keeping horses in training beyond 3 years old.Not that long ago when Classic winners were rushed off to stud at the end of season and people moaned about that.

Good morning Andrew hope your well

Henry knew the horse best what a pleasure that would have been ,the horse I always thought would have been an even better 4 year old was sinndar who finished his career at longchamp.

Anyone remember the 2003 King George....

Alamshar, Sulamani, Kris Kin, Bollin Eric, Falbrav, Warrsan, Nayef, Millenary, Izdihma, Victory Moon, Grandera, Leadership.

Eng/Irish Derby winners, previous year's Leger winner, previous year's French Derby winner, The Eclipse/Japan Cup winner, the Coronation Cup winner, a Prince Of Wales/Juddmonte/Champion stakes winner, another Leger winner, a UAE Guineas and Derby winner, another Prince of Wales and also Irish Champion winner, a Grand Premio Milano winner and even the 200/1 roughie pacemaker was a listed winner.

Do we ever get races like this anymore?

Totally agree and in one of Henrys' interviews he thought Frankel could even be better at 5-- Yes but we are not talking about that class of horse very often.
