Last meeting at Ponty, there was a golden highway up the stands side rail.

So, today it had been railed off to force the runners to the far rail. But the track had also been widened on the far side and so a strip of ground no more than 3 horses wide from the far rail became the golden highway.

Any horses coming from the rear and up the middle of the track were seemingly at a very big disadvantage.

Why do tracks mess about with their watering and rails positions so much? I can understand moving the rails on the far side to make the track wider given the stands side was railed off, but the latter was done because of the farce the last meeting. And the farce was caused by over-watering.

Ponty always used to be very clear, far side when good to fast and stands side if soft to heavy. But now it is all over the place.
