Quite incredible come back by a jockey who won his first G1 in 2005 when he was second in the GB championship, went missing for 10 years abroad but has established himself in the top 10 back here within 3 months. He must be doing something right. He is being used by a wide range of trainers and has booked rides for all 3 days at Newmarket.

apart from riding Brighton badly all season he's been excellent everywhere else, can see why he's in demand, talks the talk too which certain trainers clearly like.

He's rarely done me a favour - that race at Lingfield for example - I bet him 4 places - inevitably 5th - I ignore generally - not that that last one was any kind of certainty - just my standard wrong Callan bet

He rode Sun Festival at Brighton the twice it has won there recently but went to Lingfield today rather than ride that at Yarmouth.

He did well enough in HK from what I saw from the pics on Sky from Happy Valley and Sha Ting.  Those course are essential you get field position and pace right.
