I'm sure someone on here once said that the driftIng outsider of four never loses.

I can't for the life of me remember who said it though.

My records only go back to 1955, the outsider of 4 has won 9 races out of 106 at Sandown for R.O.I. - 23.5pts at SP, -5pts inc BSP period.

Swifty - Stats as generally reported in the racing industry are generally back-fitted nonsense. However to dismiss "stats of any kind" as BoIIox is statistically silly!

blackbarn, I was specifically referring to horse racing, hopefully we agree on that!

I agree some stats are a trap. Let's say trainer A has a 20% SR at the course and trainer B has 5%. Their horses are joint favs because horse B is a steamer. Horse B wins because money > stats.

In case they're not joint favs, horse B is probably better value anyway because mugs discard him based on the trainer SR.
