Never realised was so old though, 1st ran in 1599 and is the oldest sporting trophy still contested anywhere in the world!
My own favourite memory of it was, Scoutsmistake winning it about 1984 i think gave me a nice double with Graphics Solar from same stable, 7/1 and 5/2.

I don't know about the trophy SR but the oldest actual race is the Kiplingcotes Derby run on the third Thursday in March, first run in 1519.
