he would not have been able to do that if they went way too fast. If anything, he was going away again at the finish.

The leader went 'way too fast', but the winner who sat on his quarter, and won by a comfortable length did not (iyo). That is absurd.

Seen as you seem to know everything why did the leader run out of gas so early if he hasn't gone too fast? Also, just like athletes you can sit in second going a pace that is comfortable for you behind a leader who is going too fast for him.

Who knows, I doubt the connections do, so certainly I don't. That is the running style that he has used successfully to date. Some horses just don't take to Ascot do they, and cut out off the bridle. Could be that the occasion got to him, could be anything. Maybe even simply caught out by the step up in grade.
