Itv Irish  gambling expert was touting the tote yesterday, he sayed punters were better backing a particular selection on the tote, but failed to mention you can't take a price and if everyone followed his advice the price would fall. In fairness I heard another pundid on atr say same, but as a gambling "expert" he should know better.              Mick Fits was in cracking from yesterday trying to put everyone off backing the sweating  Vauban, the only sweater he mentioned all day, however he did explain why earplugs have little rings,so they can be removed, great insight as ever.

World Pool Place bets are settled on the number of declared runners, rather than the number of actual runners. Also there is no distinction between handicap or non-handicap races.
The table below describes the Place terms for World Pool:

1-3    No place pool   
4, 5 or 6    1st and 2nd    Void if less than 4 runners
7-20    1st, 2nd and 3rd    3 places remain for 5 or 6 actual runners. Void if less than 5 runners
21-34    1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th    4 places remain for 20 or less runners

Cheers GC,had never taken any notice of the World Pool but crucial info if betting in the pools.

Exactly, Loads will have been caught out with the place terms. ITV for a start could have spent 5 mins going through the main rules this morning instead of showing some Chef ( allegedly ) cooking an egg.

I did hear someone saying "Who called the chef a ****" and a reply "Who called the **** a chef"
