Has anyone been restricted on their withdrawal? I'm merely asking.

Racing betting is now a late minute thing exchange or bookies. No liquidity early or prices with bookies that they won't lay to more than buttons. So don't just target exchange. All early betting is dead to anyone with any idea what they are doing.

1st one in good luck for the second

Hope you managed to get some decent prices

There is literally no money in the market, its all an illusion with one dominant bot responsible for 95% of the liquidity.  I'm hoping to finish with horseracing at the end of this year...they'll be less and less money in the market as people like me leave the game!
Report impossible123 June 22, 2023 6:07 PM BST
Liquidity is getting progressively poor here. This platform needs a serious competitor from abroad eg Asia/Australia/USA to arrest the present spiral decline with time. I hope an entity like the Tote could stir things up; a waste of time setting-up another platform similar to 'sportsbook' or high street bookies; more needs to be done to maximise the opportunities here. Otherwise its demise in inevitable given time.

I think the "grey" market will be calling next for me.

I'm not trading tomorrow, I'm going to leave the momentum bot to do its thing and destroy the markets

Labour say they are going to ban betting bots....good for them !
Report impossible123 June 22, 2023 7:56 PM BST
Labour says a lot of things. It was Labour that liberated gambling. What is Peter Mendelsohn doing now? On a payroll of a bookie, I believe.

900 RIPON, £4grand traded.

No traders left, just bots left to play with each other.

If only bookies were forced to lay a bet as in OZ. Their cards are no longer marked.
Report ProSniper July 10, 2023 12:36 PM BST
tbf we're miles out from those events. IF there's only 4k traded when nearing post time then that is when things are truly desperate.
Report longbridge July 10, 2023 12:41 PM BST
@swifty how would that help the Exchange?

(and I would be interested to know how it works out in Oz - if I were forced to lay every horse for £500 takeout then I (i) wouldn't offer any early prices and (ii) would offer poor prices on everything - does it actually help 'shrewdies' get on at prices that make the game worthwhile?)

anecdotally what happens in aus is that the books sit there watching each other and only adjust prices upwards when the markets have been nibbled at. otherwise they would never take a bet and guarantees are irrelevant
Report ProSniper July 10, 2023 1:03 PM BST
Not everyone has to be a "shrewdie" to enjoy a punt, the same way there's no shrewdies participating in roulette spins. The margins remain tight enough so that theoretical profits gained from calculated risks remain plausible. People just want to know they have the ability to place a healthy minimum wager on any given fancy they have. Kudos to the Aussies for banding 2gether and heaping enough pressure for this change. A change that's not easy to achieve given that the game is stacked in a way that sees losers "win" by losing and the winners lose by winning. The UK clearly has enough losers that remain content with how they're "winning", and **** the rest.
Report swiftynifty July 11, 2023 4:54 PM BST
longbridge, if bookies were forced to lay bets to keep their licenses, it would stimulate the early exchanges on here as people start to arb/trade etc, as per the good old days,  suddenly there's some liquidity on other horses in the race. As it is you can't get a bean on with the books and nothing on here til race time.
