Jury clearly out on how closely Charlie follows the pattern of his head-scratching dad,but let's employ a little Occam's razor here.Horse declared on decent ground for weak maiden,surface changes but declared and committed to the 600 mile round trip.Probably not tried on soft turf at home so,given the above,we,ll suck it and see.Beaten after a furlong;ground likely culprit unless something physical comes out.

Yes, steering horses that have plenty in hand maybe? I wouldn't be the only one who would have him in the top 3 jockeys you don't want on your horse who needs a good drive. That's my point regarding him and having seen that last race I've no doubt that plenty of other jockeys would have got that horse up.

I doubt all his 33 winners have been horses with plenty in hand, his profit to a £1 stake, I'm sure the last time I looked it was over £50, would suggest maybe not.

I think it's safe to say he will never be one of the strongest in a finish but from where he was the last couple of years, I think he is riding very well this year and plenty of his winners this year were imo very good rides.
