I went to Donny races yesterday. Pleasant if rather sticky day. It just started to spot with rain as we were leaving. it's about a 24 mile drive back home for me. In 40 odd years of driving I don't think I've driven in a worse downpour for the last 15 miles. A lot of people had pulled into laybys obviously not prepared to go on.

This is down to idiotic over watering and no other reason. I love 2 miles away and yes there was 45 mm yesterday, but by this morning my land was good to soft at worst. Another case of Clerks overwatering for fear of even having Good to Firm ground. I fear for the thoroughbred , flat horses are bred for speed , but it appears to pander to the wokearati Clerks are watering to constantly achieve good or good to soft ground even for flat racing...it is ridiculous!
