I just found Marselan, opened as a favorite, closed at BSP100, finished second behind a 28/1 shot. Imagine laying a forecast fav at 100, the layers got lucky.
From those that actually won, I remember Dreal Deal who was an odds on fav 3 runs in a row, then drifted from 5 to 30 in the next race to win easily for the fourth time.

Just over 150 British and colonial troops defended the station against attacks by 3,000 to 4,000 Zulu warriors. The massive but piecemeal attacks by the Zulu on Rorke's Drift came very close to overwhelming the much smaller garrison, but were consistently repelled.

Ok, I double checked, and Marselan was not FC fav but my database says his 6.am. price was between 1-4 as a fav.
Also it says Loquacious Boy was a 6.am. fav, BSP 178; Lenny at BSP200, Sweet Nightingale BSP275. Guess my database is bugged because favs shouldn't drift to 275.

The first one that springs to mind is Russian Rhythm in the 1000 Guineas - I think she was 2nd favourite (throughout the Winter) and then in the morning at around 4/1 behind Six Perfections but she drifted to a winning price of 12/1 though I couldn't rule out her touching 14/1.
Can anyone remember the reason given for the lack of confidence...coming into season perhaps? She won well enough but the race will always be remembered for the scenic route taken by her pilot

Was Kicking King another that went for a long walk in the betting when he won his Gold Cup? I'm thinking that maybe he was suspected to be an AP defector so not necessarily a drifter.
I may be wrong but did he make some miraculous recovery from a setback in the preceding weeks?
