If you are going to pay tribute to the greatest jockey why would you add his name to a mediocre handicap?

(Outside of Handicaps) - They could have only added his name to the - Diomed Stakes - or, Princess Elizabeth Stakes - - and Both of them are sort of 'put of bounds' for differing reasons. The Betfred Lester Piggott Derby - would have garnered by far more publicity for the bloke from Salford .... But, perhaps, the powers that be thought that was 'out of bounds', too. |
