I had a spate of them recently and was getting fed up with them, so I went through them one by one and blocked the sender instead of just deleting them. Most had links to them which I did not click on.I use outlook which has 3 dots top right to block them. (says the bloke who had Gruss for years and never realised that the arrow gave live video until I found out on here!!) Amount of them has dropped off significantly hth.

I should add that these weren't arriving in my junk email (I don't bother with them), but in my inbox, focused or other.

"Most had links to them which I did not click on"......some look very genuine....for example, one was a month or so ago from TV Licensing saying it had expired, with a link. I double checked, doesn't run out until August!

Be careful out there Happy

I believe that if one gets through the spam filter (which they constantly attempt to do) the best thing is to ignore it and let it drop away with the rest.

If you interact with it by deleting or moving it then I think it sends meta data back, who then know the way round the filter and sell on the details.

What, a point about the ones that get through the "spam filter" into your inbox you mean? "Ignore it and let it drop away with the rest"....each to their own, but they will keep coming. Same with deleting or moving.
If you want to help reduce the incoming,(which is a nuisance as highlighted by the OP), then block those that get through one by one.
I have found though that a few still keep arriving with the title still the same but a different email address!

Until every country agrees to the death penalty for spammers, it will continue to grow.

They will keep coming if they know it’s a live address, and they will change tiny parts of the email to avoid the block.

If you interact with them they send back meta dat that verifies it’s a live account and somebody opened it.

They say don’t click on a link in the email, which is true, they should also highlight that opening them will let them know they have eyeballs

I've been deleting junk mail without opening it for many years and I've never had a problem

Outlook on mobile devices have a stupid flaw.

If you delete an email, irrespective of what it is it automatically opens the email under it.

@dusty

"they should also highlight that opening them will let them know they have eyeballs"

That's controllable - set your email client's option to not send read reports, or to ask before sending them.

And the more you mark junk emails as such, the more your email client/provider gets to recognise future junk.  Ditto marking stuff in your spam folder as "not junk" when appropriate.
