Leaving Curragh out of the equation, can anybody remember  a worse days racing than the fare offered today?

Plenty, and you don't even have the Curragh to leave out of the equation. A rubbish jump race has much more chance of being exciting than a rubbish flat one.

Agree with the OP. Three jump meeting with two of them attracting a total of 71 runners for 14 races!. No excuse for no British flat meetings today.

stable staff at flat yards would not agree.

I forgot that British people never work on Sundays except for jump stables.

Punters who work all week and have a day off on Sundays might want to enjoy a days racing.

Hyperbole though - it wasn't the best, but far from being the worst either, or people have short memories of poor racing days.
