Don Butler - Cubone

Just seen on a twitter feed called 'Lords of the Ring' that Don Butler the ex-bookie has passed away. A very regular contributor on here for a long while under the name of Cubone, his spelling and grammar was always dodgy but his tales were brilliant!

I met him a couple of times at his house in the Midlands and was going to ghost write his biography before we then self-published it. I wanted to do it chronologically and the first three chapters of his early life went great. But he seemed to lose interest a bit and I think he wanted to move away from being thought of as an away bookie, so the project fizzled out.

Anyway, I enjoyed his company over our two lengthy meetings and I'm sad to see another racecourse character from the past pass on.
