Noice. Seems he was quite prolific back in the day
Any originals among them or are they all reproductions?

they are original prints they have an embossed imprint of the "snaffles " crossed insigniture ,theres also a really nice one of polo players on horseback ,plus 3 women jockeys on horseback jumping a fence in the old silks entitled a sight to take home and dream about .the grand national  canal turn one is nice.

What a nice find Foyles, depending on condition and rarity would be worth anything from £100 - £1000 each. Leif is right, you need to look at them closer for what is called a " Blindstamp ", I think all Snaffles original prints should have one. I will post a link for you explaining a bit about them.

Click on the link and scroll down, you will find a copy of the "Blindstamp ."

I bought an oil painting at auction once in Glasgow about 10 yrs ago for about £200, it turned out that the lot i had bought had included a " Snaffles " print which i sold on ebay for £400. Happy Days.

thanks glassie i will look it up more closely but they do have this kind of embossed marks on each of them ,got the lot for £25 .
Report FOYLESWAR May 21, 2023 1:16 PM BST
thanks glassie just looked it up and the blindstamp is exactly  the same as on all my prints its kind of embossed and you can feel it to the touch .
Report FOYLESWAR May 21, 2023 1:17 PM BST
well done with your auction find  glasgow!
Report GLASGOWCALLING May 21, 2023 1:21 PM BST
.... They are not always that easy to spot, if as you say some are under glass then that would make it even harder ( without removing them ). If you saw the Snaffles Blindstamp on the link it is of 2 interlocked horse bits, when you see dealers selling the originals most will mention them as authenticity.
Report FOYLESWAR May 21, 2023 1:26 PM BST
think they are real ,the loose ones   have that kinda musty smell of age .

Agreed. Love this artist! - I've always liked the way he often throws in a little vignette (sorry chaps!) into the margin, like this one.
Report FOYLESWAR May 21, 2023 2:23 PM BST
got that one case !
Report FOYLESWAR May 21, 2023 2:26 PM BST
dont think theres any sussex related ones blackbarn mainly sandown ,grand national but i will have a proper look and put the titles up on here . the polo one looks like army officers in india hunting with hounds , playing polo and shooting game .

Report GLASGOWCALLING May 21, 2023 4:19 PM BST
Dont expect the same prices as 2007 Foyles, fashions change and in the the middle of a economic slump is not goin to help, either way a great find. Happy

Blackbarn, i will keep a beady eye out for anything Sussex related as i am often trawling through the online sales sites. Happy

Great stuff, Foyleswar, sounds as if you've got a real bargain. I bought a framed "The Canal Turn" by Neil Cawthorne of ebay about 2 years ago, from the 92 GN cost be about £20 i think, run must have been 4000 at least so not worth much but a nice picture nonetheless.
Report FOYLESWAR May 21, 2023 8:19 PM BST
yeah thanks stew amazing what ya can find at these carboots , i try to go every sunday have got some good stuff over the years ,well done with your ebay buy !

Paid £100 for a print of Red Rum by AJ Gadd about 25 years ago 93/850 seen one just sold for £50.

You win some and you lose some.

Love the print never the less. Above my desk as I type.
Report FOYLESWAR May 22, 2023 7:12 AM BST
thats what its about barstool as long as you enjoy the print the value dont matter so much ,£100 over  25 years =  £4 a year you couldnt buy a good cup of coffee for that so you are getting great value for money and trends change 5 years time it could shoot up in price!
Report FOYLESWAR May 22, 2023 7:30 AM BST
what i will say is if ya have bootsales near you  especially if you live in a rural area they are well worth attending, and as we have this gamblers mindset most will do well at it ,i see it as treasure seeking on a sunday morning some of the stuff that people sell is unbelivable and even in this day and age where a simple click onto google will show the value of items many   dont bother and load up the car and take it to the carboot .  and its a lot like betting..... ie you buy an item for say a £5 and stick it on one of the selling sites ebay or whatever ,it sells for £35 thats a 7/1 winner , 4 or 5 of those in one morning adds up and now and then you will have a biggee ! of course the downside is the item dont sell but if you buy wisely and start the item off at a minimum of what you paid for it you wont lose anything .

i bought a load of footy shirts mainly man utd at a car boot last year think i put it on here ,anyway they were from the 80s and 90s mark hughes ,scholes ,beckham  cantona ,around that era ,they were in a mixed condition some good some well worn but i didnt pay a lot for them think it was around £30-£40 for the lot and a few went for around £100 -£75 -£60 that kind of price  and the more worn ones for various prices £30s £25s etc made good money on them and most sold just 1 that was too far gone  with holes and faded  etc  that i didnt bother trying to sell.
