Didn't keep to the chase course.
Taking a short cut surely means means disqualification even though it won well. You are opening a big can of worms if you allow it to keep surely? |

Race 5 - 7:35pm
THE OPTIMUM EXPERIENCE HANDICAP STEEPLE CHASE (CLASS 5) An enquiry was held to consider the placings after the winner, HARRY THE NORSEMAN, ridden by Bradley Roberts had appeared to take the incorrect course in the home straight. The rider, the Clerk of the Course and Trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the incident. The Stewards disqualified HARRY THE NORSEMAN and revised the placings as follows: First - DO IT FOR THY SEN (IRE), Second - MILTIADES (IRE), Third - DOGEM BY DESIGN (IRE), Fourth - FORGET YOU NOT (FR). Roberts was suspended for 14 days for going the wrong side of the C marker and island railings, which define the Chase course. |

Race 4 - 7:05pm
THE BOULTON GROUP HANDICAP HURDLE RACE (CLASS 2) (GBB RACE) Permission was given for TWIG to wear a hood in the parade ring. An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference halfway up the run in having jumped the final hurdle, involving the winner, TWIG, ridden by Beau Morgan and HILLVIEW (IRE), placed second, ridden by Sean Bowen. Being a 7lb claiming conditional, Morgan was accompanied in the enquiry by a Jockey Coach. It was established that from approaching half a furlong out TWIG commenced to hang right-handed into the path of HILLVIEW (IRE) and made contact with that runner resulting in HILLVIEW being hampered, before thereafter TWIG continued to hang right-handed impeding HILLVIEW when carrying Bowen several horse widths off his intended line. Taking into account the material extent of the interference and the official margin of 1 length between first and second, the Stewards were unable to be satisfied that had the incident not occurred HILLVIEW (IRE) would have finished in front of TWIG and therefore ordered the placings to remain unaltered. Morgan was suspended for 4 days for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to hang right-handed over a sustained period, without sufficient or timely correction, thereby causing interference to HILLVIEW (IRE). |
