But not very from jock, in fact just about as bad as it gets. Asleep on the job, and gave the horse no chance.

It seems to have been a week of me backing horses that have suffered because of poor jockeyship. Astro King - Passenger and now Intellogent. I much prefer the Irish based jockeys when the money is down as they somehow seem to get the job done.It is galling for us punters. I remember lumping on Hey Gaman massively at 14s on its debut at Leicester after some very very impressive homework. It was heavily backed and went clear inside the final furlong. Andre Atzeni dropped his hands and the horse pulled itself up on the uphill finish to be beaten a nose by Masar (later won the Derby). The jockey held his hands up afterwards and admitted he should have won but no consolation and five figure return missed out on. No wonder after 57 years betting I now only dabble with small bets.

It really is impossible to dodge all the rubbish rides. The Flat code is absolutely riddled with them from top to bottom.

I already commented about Chindit on another thread. It appears that the horse has the same opinion of Buick as I do. Of course Jane Chapple-Hyam won the maiden at Newmarket a few minutes later with the favourite running an absolute shocker. I was on the other Chapple-Hyam runner at 75/1 three places only for Tart to be outridden by Osborne and lose third by a head.
