Wow I never watched the race and knew nothing about what happened yet when I check my account this morning I found that bet365 had given me my money back over Watergrange Jack which run in the 6.30 at Fontwell last night.
I am going to give some of the money to Charity as I never expected that to happen.
Did anybody else get their money back?
This is not a wind up they really did give me my money back.

Why would u have backed Watergrange Jack in the first place seaside ?

not on here seaside, we've all given denise the runaround & either been limited to buttons or emptied.

same fate will befall you when you either (a) start winning or (b) show you have some kind of betting acumen

hth Wink

Surely B365 have to be consistent if they've made the decision to void bets on RTR horses?

But on the BF exchange, it's always a losing bet, is that right?
Report longbridge May 19, 2023 12:10 PM BST
RTR horses are deemed to have come under starter's orders so are losers on here, at least that is my understanding.

I suppose that - at least in theory - the price ought to reflect the chances of a refusal, at least on horses thar are known to be difficult at the start?
Report Tattcorner May 19, 2023 12:32 PM BST
But with Frankie's 'flying dismount' on Chaldean, that was pretty rough luck on the exchange punters, you would imagine?
Report hulk23 May 19, 2023 12:40 PM BST
good point you make longbridge.

curious then that Energy One, a known refuser, was backed 10.5 >> 6.8 last night.

before refusing, as it does.

so who was behind that move.  the shrewdies ?  nah.  afternoon paddy.
Report hulk23 May 19, 2023 12:44 PM BST
8th, unseated, refused.

think we're onto one here lads, pile on Happy
Report hulk23 May 19, 2023 12:45 PM BST
stood still down at the start.  going nowhere.

6.8 >> 11.5 Silly
Report stu May 19, 2023 12:46 PM BST
These kind are also why I laugh when anyone tries the argument that racing markets are too efficient to bet against.
Report longbridge May 19, 2023 12:48 PM BST
hulk, you know I have difficulty with your conspiracy theories, so:

"Paddy" backs Energy One down to an unrealistically low price where real Exchange shrewdies can lay the horse as a value bet - to what benefit to "Paddy"?
Report hulk23 May 19, 2023 12:53 PM BST
Exchange shrewdies will view that move and suspect someone knows something and give it a wide berth.

same as they would with the johnston horse in the 845 last night.  17.5 into 9.2

the one that was tailed off 2 furlongs out Silly
Report longbridge May 19, 2023 1:08 PM BST
Not sure I follow hulk.

Whether shrewdies or not, someone matched "Paddy" down to 6.8 and his back bets were losers - how does he profit by this?
Report penzance May 19, 2023 1:10 PM BST
So Power's are going to back a horse who's a suspect
starter on the exchange and risk losing their dough.
What a load of b0ll0x.
Report stu May 19, 2023 1:48 PM BST
how does he profit by this?

I think this has been the problem with Hulk's theory, whether I think he's right or not...
Report hulk23 May 19, 2023 2:37 PM BST
you're assuming the majority of money on show isn't his.

that's your first mistake.
Report longbridge May 19, 2023 3:08 PM BST
Go on then.  Let's assume that, like Smarkets / Matchbook (allegedly) most of the money here is Betfair's ("Paddy").

So if so, how come winners don't ge restricted or banned like the do on SM/MB if the money they are winning is BF's?

Sorry Hulk, I really struggle to understand how your theories make commercial sense for those you think are the conspirators.
Report hulk23 May 19, 2023 3:26 PM BST
who owned the £108 that appeared in front of mine at the start of the 3m chase ?

if it wasn't paddy ...

in fact, who owns all the £108 bets i see appearing in front of my bets.
Report hulk23 May 19, 2023 3:27 PM BST
put up money for johnstons at 17.5 in the 845 last night

straight away, £108 appeared looking for 17

5 minutes later price was 9.2

tailed off

A bot that's matching to your betting patterns?
Report stu May 19, 2023 3:34 PM BST
People always moan about bots on the exchange, but it's worth remembering that there are many losing bots also on these markets.

They are not a magical profit making system, only as good as they prove to be. Just like us punters.
Report longbridge May 19, 2023 3:42 PM BST
Hulk, I have no idea why you ascribe the £108s you see cutting inside your asking price being BF's, and I cannot see you make a case for how that benefits BF if true.

But we have been over that ground before.

On the case in point - what motive do you ascribe to BF supposedly backing horses at prices shorter than value, and giving us punters the chance to lay them at better than value?
