1/2 furlong post was obviously the finishing post for Joe!!!

I backed it and I couldn't be certain if he'd have won if fully pushed out to the line but it would have been nice to have found out for sure.

Onlooker should be along soon to castigate the lad for his mistake, cancel that, Joe ain't Irish ...

Last four rides, 3/1 11/10 15/8    13/8 got them all beat, not a particularly bright lad either.

Anderson stated his mount became lairy, and on realising there was still half a furlong to go, allowed it to come back under him.

held up tracking leaders, closer before 2 out, hung left and went 2nd at the last, ridden to lead run-in, rider mistook winning post and eased at the half furlong marker, soon headed, not recover

The lad is a 5lb claimer, only learning his trade, will obviously make mistakes.

After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Anderson was suspended for 10 days for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible placing on a horse that could have finished first.

nothing here regarding what Anderson said in the stewards room so hopefully he just held his hands up and accepted his mistake...
