Betfair punter cashes out losing £4 accumulator for whopping £10,812

A Betfair Sportsbook customer cashed out for £10,812 just before the last leg of their £2 each-way six-fold accumulator trailed in fourth on Sunday evening.
The first five selections were winners of consecutive races on Hamilton's valuable Sky Bet Sunday Series card.
My Little Queens at 13/2, Quintus Arrius at 16/5, Pisanello at 19/5, Jordan Electrics at 17/2 and Geremia at 9/2 all won, leaving the customer with a tough decision while they waited on the sixth and final leg of their audacious multiple.
To cash out, or let the £4 bet ride?
The punter opted to hit the cash-out button and bagged nearly £11,000 despite their six and final leg, Aqwaam, going on to finish unplaced.
Betfair spokesman Barry Orr said: "It’s an unbelievable bet to land for just four quid!
"The races came one after another and the excitement levels must have been building throughout the afternoon.
"Luckily for them, they opted to cash out as if they hadn’t they would have had a zero return on the bet with Aqwaam finishing fourth of nine runners in the concluding race of Hamilton’s card."

I know I have said this before, but if you think you are going to be tempted to cash out if the first five legs come in, stake the first five legs as a seperate bet. |

always use cash out and place bets on the last one or two to make you feel better if they win but rare they do,but its a once in a lifetime to come in so the odds are seriously against you imo

Even at prices quoted, there would have been £14,137 running on in the win part of the bet, so the cash out offer of £10,812 doesn't seem very generous. had BOG been available (and why not), the price of Quintus Arrius and Jordan Electrics would have been 5/1 and 10/1 respectively. That would have meant £26,136 running on - the cash out offer then looks more like theft.

If there wasn't a cashout he wouldn't have got a penny, so I can't see how paying nearly £11k for a losing bet is theft.
They aren't there to offer value, it's up to the punter to decide if he wants to take it or not. |

Sorry know all - I don't get that all.
If you're going to always cash out if the first five legs of a six-fold come in, just bet the five-fold in the first place. And once you have 5 legs up, the odds of the six-fold coming in are just the odds of the last runner - so about 20% in this case. If you staked the 5-fold £1-50 EW and the 6-fold 50p EW, then you'd have spent the same staking the bet and (based on qqking's numbers) still made about £10k when the first 5 come in *and* still had the chance of another big payout on the last runner. |

Yeah if the punter has taken the cash out the bookie has offered the correct amount
 and might have got away with even less. |

Did not someone on another similar thread think the bookie was the mug here for having paid out on what ought to be a losing bet and couldn't get the concept that the bookie was buying value?

If they weren't in the bookies favour they wouldn't be offering them. In this case he was happy to take the money and it worked in his favour, there will be loads where it hasn't for punters.

Totally agree with you longbridge. Only trouble especially these days is you have made it very clear that you are not Benny from crossroads which are theonly customers they want. |

I still think people place these bets hoping to land the place acca. Once the first five win a poor cash out offer is still far better than the punter was hoping to get.

everyones different but my example is for me as i know how difficult it is to get 4 5 or 6 to win, our lass had a 3 timer at cheltenham festival 33/1 16/1 both won all on a 5/1 shot small stakes she took the 250 ish cashout as i thought it would be a miracle to get all 3 up at the festival she was over the moon and even more so the 3rd well beaten but i made sure she had a bit on win the last one just to soften the blow if, its luck that the first few win giving you a larger cash out when you get the first one or two beat its far far less cashout in like a 5 or 6 timer and i would let that ride as already had like one or 2 beaten, i have said before its better to take the cashout imo

Do Betfair sportsbook not offer the option of a partial cash out any more,last time I had a decent amount running on couldn’t see it.always hedge on the exchange I suppose but they used to have a slider tool that was quite useful.

i tend only to do win multiples leaving out double and trebles depending on prices, in the old days in shops and still do it i nearly always did ew all ew or equally divided on ew multiples which is like a cashout as your hedging that they all wont win and it pays far bigger returns with the odd one placed than using just normal ew
